No doubt. I expect both of them to have good careers. But both are rookies and both will struggle. Matt more so not having the defense and O-line Mark has in NY.

For the season so far...

Matt- 170-308 1,911 yds 55.2 cmp% 11 TDs 14 INTs 8 games
Mark- 138-265 1,791 yds 52.1 cmp% 10 TDs 16 INTs 10 games

Neither are as good or as bad as they've appeared. It's much too soon to judge them, so let's stop all these "this one's better than that one" talk.

Ok, so who still would rather have Mark Sanchez? lmao I can't even imagine how good Stafford would be with a offensive line like NY has.

Ouch, 4 INTs for Sanchez already this game. Since starting 3-0, Sanchez has 14 INTs and 6 TDs and the Jets have gone 1-6. Can we officially retire the "Sanchize" nickname for the time being?

Brandon Marshall breaks the NFL record for catches in a game with 21 = absurd

The Lions claimed former Jaguar CB Brian Witherspoon off waivers. 24 years old so hes another "player of the future*". Signed a TE named Michael Matthews. Big young dude, played all 32 games in 2 years with the Giants and had 8 receptions in that time. So I guess that means Special Teamer. Oddly enough neither guy played for a Michigan College. We added Terrance Taylor, former Wolverine (there it is), to the practice squad. Activated Cedric Peerman RB from the practice squad, put Eric Fowler back on the practice squad. And finally cut Jahi Word-Daniels.

Veteran Cato June (a former Wolverine) was recently cut by the Bears, but hasn't signed with the Lions yet. Either they haven't noticed hes a Wolverine, or he must really be done.

All these moves and Culpepper is still the QB, god the Lions must hate Drew.

JP Losman signed with the Raiders. See ya Russel.

Ex-Lions Vernon Fox and Reggie Swinton have signed with NFL teams, so apparently there is work after Detroit.

* In all fairness, what is a "player of the future"?

Witherspoon and Matthews are good pick ups, especially considering our injuries. They aren't anything special, but we need bodies right now.

Just wondering, WHY in the world are we not starting Stanton these last few games???

If he's crap, he's crap - but what do we gain by showcasing (because he won't be back next season) Culpepper?

Worst-case scenario is Stanton plays like crap, but he at least gains experience.

We aren't going to sign & trade Culpepper and no team is going to trade for him with only a couple games left and him playing like ****. The only reason I can think of for playing him is that we are gauranteed losses with Daunte playing and Mayhew wants a good pick as much as we do. *

* I'm not saying that the team wants quitters, just that they want a good pick while evaluating talent. Players have no reason not to play hard because they are playing for contracts.

I didn't mean to imply that we were showcasing Culpepper for trade - I meant that by playing him, we are showcasing him for his next contract. He's a FA after this season, right?

Either way, we should be playing Stanton.

This is what I said for our very first preseason game. GMing football correctly is like a 4th grade homework assignment, I'm about 2 seasons ahead of these guys in thought process.

He was at the very least arguing with his woman (might have been doing more) and when she tried to leave, he hopped into the bed of her truck to continue the altercation.

I'm not hoping he dies or anything, but my sympathy is limited right now.

We don't know that she killed him. They were fighting, she tried to get away from him. He continued to go after her and put his life in danger and died. Now if we find out any details that suggest otherwise, disregard this. But for right now, the only person I blame for his death is him.

That is crazy, but he lived a hard life.

I still can't figure out how they justify starting Daunte. Even if you hate Drew and/or have some personal vendetta against him, it still makes a lot more sense to start a 25 year old free agent then a 32 year old one on a rebuilding team.

Terrelle Smith got cut. Thats a real shame, those 2 catches for 7 yards in 8 games really was a difference maker. He must've been one of the quitters, although I'm not sure how anyone could tell.

He was cut so the Lions could claim a guard named Roy Schuening from the Raiders.

I would have rather had seen the Lions claimed Richie Incognito. Dirtiest player in the NFL according The Sporting News. Thats not a bad thing, thats a good thing.

Whatever, at least the Lions got a new guy.

does it really matter who the Lions claim off waivers at this point....they likely won't even get to play before the season ends....

Witherspoon will, hes also a punt returner. Roy could go either way, and the team signed a new Long Snapper/TE. He'll play

The team sucks as much as it does and Schwartz wants change. I'd be less suprised to see a new guy play, as opposed to a number of guys who have been here.

With all the injuries we have, most of these guys (if not all) will play.

Not surprised that Mayhew has signed LT Corey Hilliard and LG Roy Schuening. The left side of our Oline has been god awful this year. Most of Matts sacks have come from the left. He needs protection and since Backus and Ramirez don't want to do their job, Mayhew has brought in backups.

CB Witherspoon should help our secondary. William James has been our most consistent DB.

TEs Michael Matthews and Jake Nordin were brought in because of the injuries to FitzSimmons and Pettigrew.

RB Cedric Peerman and S DeAngelo Smith will see time for the rest of the season as well.

Tampa Bay won this week as well. We're getting closer.
