I think he was strongly considering it all year. There were signs that he was putting things in perspective, smiling a little more, etc. It was like he was annoyed with how Georgia/Smart superseded him for a few years, but then suddenly seemed more at peace with everything this year. Just not as driven by the intensity of the competition any more.

Also, a few times in recent years, he was pissed at hell at the entitled fans who complained every time they weren't national champions. The best part of this will be watching those dumbass fans slowly start to realize how good they had it.

I have a lot of respect for the Saban Alabama program. I have a lot of friends who were fans of Bama and, in the age of insufferable coaches/programs (Michigan/Clemson/tO$U), I never really had an issue with him or Bama.

Probably goes without saying, but Saban retiring doesn't suddenly make Wisconsin a destination for a typical Bama recruit.

I had nothing against Saban. He deserved his success IMO. He was just really, really good at what he did - you could tell almost as he soon as he took over at Michigan State. Other than winning so much, he was also generally not irritating compared to a lot of other coaches. Some of the advocating he did for Bama to make the playoffs when they clearly didn't deserve to ("nobody wants to play us right now") was pretty far-fetched, but that's part of the job description these days.

There's always the risk of injury or his play taking a dive, but I think there's zero doubt he'll be making more next year than had he entered the draft.

Looks like the major writers are picking that up. Hopefully a lot of talent guys swapped around and he has a bit of a retooling year this year when they travel to Madison.

He was relatively high on the odds list last night and I wished I had the time or ability to just bet the field. I know that it would've been betting a lot to win a little still, but there's not a chance in hell they were going to go for that hype show.

I would imagine Washington just promotes Ryan Grubb.

Yea, I'm going with Grubb easy if that's the list.
