"Happy for Rodgers" isn't exactly the vibe I'm currently getting from Packers Nation.

I do often wonder if social media were around during the era of Michael Jordan (serial gambler/serial cheater), or other Hall of Famers, if there would be as many "fans," who were so apparently offended by the person that it significantly affected the way they viewed the player, as it seems to with guys like Rodgers and Lebron. I always thought that most people watched sports to be entertained by the athletes who can do it at the highest level. Sadly, due to the current media landscape I don't believe that to be the case anymore.

I think a whole bunch of fans moved from wanting to keep him one more year to be ready for him to go, just over the last couple of months. When even my mom is saying its time for Love, you know he has lost the room.

I'm wishing him well, even hope he wins a superbowl as long as it isn't against us. I just don't think it was ever going to happen again with him here. Time to turn the page.

Criticizing a players' words, overall play, and being happy to move on =/= hating them nor is it a referendum on their entire career.

If you're going off of social media traffic in order to gauge the overall fanbase sentiment, then every fanbase is gonna seem toxic and insufferable. Any real Packer fan appreciates what he did for the franchise but can acknowledge that it was better for everyone to move on.

I was truly annoyed by Favre at the end, disliked him, and rooted against him because you knew his motive was to go to the Vikings all along. Also, not necessarily Favre's fault, but it drove a rift through the fanbase of Favre vs. Rodgers, of which I was on team Rodgers/Ted Thompson. Packers fans rooted against Rodgers because they liked the good ol boy, therefore I was even more against Favre.

I don't feel that same division/rift with Rodgers/Love and the fans.

I have been mildly annoyed by Rodgers' antics. However, I'm happy for *him*. Now, I still don't want him to win that much with the Jets. If Rodgers had Brady's career here in terms of Super Bowls and won another elsewhere, who cares. But he only won one here. I don't want to see him win one elsewhere or get close because I'm a fragile fan that would hate everything about that from rival fanbases, etc.

However, I have much less animosity towards Rodgers even though I know he was lying through his teeth the past few years. I like him, will welcome him back, and outside of the aforementioned paragraph, would otherwise have no reason to cheer against him.

Social media really isn’t a great way to gauge reality. Twitter and the like attract the hardcore weirdos and active posters probably contribute to some arbitrary low percentage of total fans. I think most packers fans still love Aaron, but realized it’s time to move on. Imo oc

I laughed out loud reading that. Just a preposterous statement.

Side note, I'm the exact opposite. If you try to facetime me you might never hear from me again.

I wish he would have went even more over the top and said during the off-season he only communicates via telepathy in the astra plane.

Legitimately can't tell if he's trolling or just doesn't understand how the internet/cell reception works.

He'd eventually leave his house where he'd probably get a voicemail or note that he missed a call.

I would also imagine given it's 2023 that they'd try to send him a text, which would go through via wifi or be picked up when he got to reception.

**** like this makes me less sad about his departure. I guess I *try* to separate the athlete from the man but he makes it so hard to do that. Douchey statement.

Well I assume he won't use 5g so maybe the cell reception issue is real :)

I'd bet he's trolling.

None of these quotes surprise me. He's a bit of a petty bitch. That's okay, we have bigger fish to fry now. Now we can finally enjoy draft week!

Lmao at the cell service reasoning, that's legit lol worthy

Also of course now Rodgers will commit to offseason activities.

Unless he's doing the play on words, where he really means, if you want to talk to me, literally come in person face to face. Come to my beautiful house and delve into my ecosystem. That or he's just blissfully clueless.

Well, the Jets took this approach and it worked, so I think it's more like this than the other hypothesis.
