Oregon's had 8 transfers since January :o

I guess that school isn't all it's quacked up to be.

With all of their Nike recruiting prowess and large number of transfers everywhere these days, these transfers are probably just water off their backs.

No idea how this process works but is there possibly some sort of successor plan with Chryst and Leonhard taking over head coaching duties? Him turning down the Packers would make more sense.

That has been my theory. Leonhard likes it in Madison with his family and knows that in 5-10 years he'll take over. That's a pretty long time, though, unless Chryst plans to step down earlier. Chryst doesn't really seem like he is suited for Athletic Director but what do I know?

I have no idea, but how common is it for an AD to be a former HC? I feel Barry was a unique position of resurrecting the sports department but feel it's usually a different skill set than a HC.

ETA: There's got to be a joke in here somewhere about Barry hiring himself as a consultant or interim AD like he he gave himself the bonuses of 'coaching' the bowl games when GA and BB left.

Some rumors in interest from Chez Mellusi, Clemson transfer RB. I rarely am pining for a transfer but the Badgers are really thin there. I'm willing to be into the potential of Guerrendo, but it really feels like it's just Berger that can be trusted. There isn't even currently a Groshek type that can be serviceable behind him, IMO.

I like the Mellusi pickup; if anything it will boost competition between Davis,Gurrendo and the other RBs; I wouldn't mind them trying to get another wideout from the transfer portal though that's just IMO

I guess that's where the whole NIL thing is kinda funny.

There will be some major recruits that are busts that profit a bit due to branding and excitement and maybe some channels of payment to come on to campus.

Someone like Mertz who could go either way of being a 3rd round NFL pick in 2 years or someone we're looking to start the next guy over in 2 years if he never regains his accuracy. If the latter happens and he's not that good, we'll all be able to laugh at the guy that has a Graham Mertz-branded shirt and it'll be nice that Mertz made $15k one year. If the former happens, Mertz will have pocketed an extra $100k to tack on to the $20 million he makes in his pro career.

;tldr I'm not against it but I'm guessing 90% of the guys that make big $ will be guys that go on to make 50x that in the NFL or NBA anyways. That said, again, not against it as $20k because you have a cool Instagram presence even though you're somewhat of a bust college player can still be life-changing.

I hope players get everything they can, I just think it's funny that Mertz is coming out with that logo now.

In the actual football discussion side of things - I am wondering if shoulder issues were holding Mertz down last year on top of the concussion/COVID break. It's hard to imagine a guy looking that accurate even against a porous defense or two to missing guys by 10 yards later in the year.

But yeah, sure, I hope they get what they can but this is what comes with the territory. Guys that might be average players at non-championship teams putting out branded logos. Even recruits are starting to brand everything.

Kinda like the bat flip or touchdown celebration arguments.

"Yeah, sure, fine, I've never had a problem with them. I don't know why it is an issue. Let them celebrate."

*Guy throws his bat 50 feet in the air in a random June game for a sub-.500 team while losing 7-2*

"Yeahhhhhhh well that isn't really what I was thinking."
