I hate this team. J Johnson there to be had and we take the lesser Bulldog

In terms of size and skills, able to play any LB spot, makes me think of Micah Parsons.

Walker was in this area on a lot of final mock drafts. Ahead of Dean in them. NFL projection > college production.

I defer to their draft scouting because I think it's above average, but they better believe they're getting a potential stud ILB with a high floor and a high ceiling to draft one at that spot under the circumstances.

I love me some Dean, but Walker has some excellent size on him. That'll be fun to watch roam the middle.

Clearly no bias here.

Did we really have the worst? Damn

This was a glaring flaw that nobody really discussed this offseason. It's why I wanted Jordan Davis or another stud ILB

Watched some highlights and he seems to have great physical tools but pretty poor tackling form. Like he expects to be able to just bulldoze into people with his pads high and still get them to the ground with some grappling. I guess I would have said the same thing about Campbell too, but they both seem to have tentacles for arms to make tackles without typical pad technique. Maybe he's just saying upright to be ready to move laterally.

Be interesting to see the math behind this. 32” vertical doesn’t align at all with the rest of his numbers. Is he explosive or not?
Micah Parsons for comparison, had a 39.5” vert.

Isn't he considered the most sure tackler in the draft class? Or are you saying that his approach won't translate well

You wanted the scalpel (Dean), but you still got the hammer. It's awesome

I get ppl being upset we didn’t take the guy they thought was the best one.. we’re all god tier scouts obviously. But anyone upset at this pick needs to take a step back. The board went crazy and we got a potential defensive game changer. It’s impossible to truly evaluate individual defenders on a defense full of future pros. I’ll take the monster sized super freak athlete of the bunch. That’s definitely Walker.. idk. I’m super juiced up. I’ve been a Packer fan 3+ decades now and I’ve never enjoyed the possibility of a LB group like we have now. Dean or Johnson would’ve been good picks too don’t get me wrong. But Walker is everything you want for a nasty stout defense. Do yourselves a solid and get excited is all I can say..

I'm digging this pick more and more. Kris Barnes probably punching holes in the wall.

Campbell was the top rated ILB in pass coverage last year. Maybe instead of searching for another safety they’ll slide him out into pass coverage and use Walker as the ILB in subpackages which puts him on the field pretty much all the time.

There, I justified it to myself. :D

I was impressed with the way he was able to bring guys down without committing his pads and fully wrapping them up, so maybe it's a little bit of both. In other words, it could be a good thing, but it might not translate when he's trying to tackle bigger, stronger NFL players the same way.

Disclaimer: based on pretty limited highlights at this point, naturally.
