I think/hope Sheppard's going to turn out like the Nembhard pick

He'll be on a two-way in the g-league. We've reached BPA territory.

Has he been selected? Davis at #55?

Re: The 2023 Draft watch thread
Not sure if it's been posted already. It's tough to argue with our trade down since we got who we wanted, but I remembered reading this article the other day:
https://www.theringer.com/nba-draft/2023/6/19/23765364/nba-draft-2023-eighth-pick-curse
I re-read it just now. It gets worse.

Every one of the top 32 picks in the draft has yielded at least one All-Star since 1994 except for nos. 23 and 26 and unlucky no. 8.

Great draft for the Mad Ants or what ever they are gonna be called in Noblesville!
Other than Walker this draft blows.

Really surprised they thought enough to bring him in twice, and then you don't take him at 47? Weird.

Re: The 2023 Draft watch thread
I would anticipate that King and Wong get 2 ways. If Kendall Brown returns on a 2 way, that would lock up the 2 way spots (though obviously, you could waive a guy for someone else if they show in summer league/camp).
Right now, there'd be 4 roster spots open for training camp if you pencil in King, Wong, and Brown for 2 ways, and 1 spot open for the final main roster spot (of 15).

Re: The 2023 Draft watch thread
King and Wong are two of the stupidest picks I've ever seen a team make. It's bad enough that they took Sheepherd with the 26 that's gonna end up being a wasted pick. 10 guards I don't care if these two guys are 2 way or if they are with the Ants it's wasting picks the team should have traded the picks for a old basketball rack and some new towels for the men's room.

I'd say George Hill but they have to add salary which could mean signing a free agent to that last spot instead of George or trading one of the 14 for a higher paid player. Smith, Jackson, Duarte, and Theis would all be trade possibilities as would Hield and McConnell. actually almost everyone but Haliburton, Mathurin, Nembhard, and Turner could be moved for a starting forward although I hope we also keep Mesmith and Nwora.

Re: The 2023 Draft watch thread
I’m seeing the thinking here with King/Wong. Buddy is expiring. Nesmith is in his last year. McConnell has 2 years remaining. Nembhard is so darned good, that if he keeps producing, he could be the centerpiece of a major trade. Having guys like this in the 2 way pipeline ensures you’re always developing toward having usable players.
Or they’re going to be churned out of their role in a year anyway and it’s all a crapshoot anyway.

After sleeping on it, I’d have personally felt much better about the night if they brought in Camara at 47 and then took either of King/Wong at 55.
Which is wild that 47 affects my thinking of the night in any way.

Re: The 2023 Draft watch thread
Weird. Usually a team's first draft pick holds up the 1, and another one would hold up their draft position, so if these are their actual numbers on the court, that would be unique.
