Hedgecock used to be a great blocker but he's looked washed up throughout the preseason and wasn't very effective against Carolina. Given that we're becoming more of a passing team it also makes sense that we update some our positions and replace the pure blocking FB that we have used for a while now with a versatile receiving FB. It's not like we can't teach Beckum to block better, Pope is probably the best TE coach in the league at teaching TEs how to block, he turned Shockey into a dominant blocker after he came in raw and clueless and he has turned Boss into a very good blocker when he was quite god awful when he got here.

Beckum is not a fullback. He is too tall and doesn't use enough leverage to lead block. He also isn't strong enough and is too injury prone.

Using leverage is something young players get taught all of the time, Boss had that problem big time and Shockey had that problem to, Pope does a great job at getting guys to improve their blocking technique. Plus we wouldn't be using the FB exclusively like a lead blocker with Beckum there. We're becoming more of a passing team anyway and having Beckum at FB lets us use the I, which we probably use more than any other team in the league, to not just run but also have a bunch of passing options. Nicks and Smith outside, Boss at TE, Beckum and Bradshaw in the backfield, that's 5 guys that we can use to spread the field out of a formation that usually left us with two backs who were useless in the passing game, Bushpenis and Jacobs.

well that was embarrassing. Not really a surprise though. The Colts imo are the best team in the league and just dont lose at home.

This team has no discipline anymore, and the offensive line for the Giants sucks. McKenzie is constantly getting blown. The Giants should think about giving Shawn Andrews a try especially with that contract they gave him. According to wikipedia they signed him to a six-year deal. I thought he only got a one-year deal?

He got a 6 year deal. The first year he is making peanuts, and it is basically a trial. If they keep him around next year he's getting paid big money. He dominated the right side against the titans after McKenzie was benched. I kept a special eye out for him. He should be starting there. We'd have the best right side of the line in the league.

^ I was at the game and I left once McKenzie got benched. Good to know though that he did well. Hopefully he does get the start, would be a waste to bench him even though he is getting paid peanuts this year.

Yea, plus it's impossible to know if the Giants should keep him long term if he isn't on the field at all.

In 2007 and 2008 the players played well and were forced to play well because those players were already accustomed to Tom Coughlin's old ways. He has to bring some of that back, because these are new players and are probably used to the laid back Coughlin now. The 2007 and 2008 Giants played well because they did not want to see the old Coughlin. This new team never saw the old Coughlin.

You can tell the addition of Rolle and Kenny Phillips being back really makes a difference with the Giants coverage. All what they are doing is a 4 man rush and they are able to get to the QB now. Osi Umenyiora has 6 sacks and 5 of them were forced fumbles.

This game will really test the Giants secondary, regardless of the 1-4 record Dallas is still a tough team to beat and if it wasn't for the boneheaded penalties they make they could have easily been 4-1. Dallas Left Guard Kyle Kosier will be out for monday's game. The offensive line for the Giants better come prepapred because Dallas pass rush has still been getting to the QB.

I also think with Manningham's quick side to side speed he can be a good returner, that quick move he did for the TD on Monday proves it. I also want Bear Pascoe to be the Giants full-time fullback.

I hope Coughlin stick with Bear Pascoe at full back even though Madison Hedgecock looks healthy.
