you know..
maine has been a horse since his first start. He is treading in new waters for his IP this year and its showing. Perez knows the grueling seasons and has pitched many innings in the past for the Pirates. Maine is probably a little tired mentally and physically. Unlike most of our starting pitchers, he hasnt been on the DL thisyear so he might be a little burnt.
He is still young, and it shows when the is fluttered in the mound in the 4th/5th/6th inning. I think he should skip a start sometime after the phillies/braves series just to give his mind and body a little breather.
But with that said, these are great growing pains i think for Maine. People kind of ignore the idea that he got by last year with just fastballs, and this this year is his first FULL year as a starter whos role in our rotation as a lock and unquestionable. The growth out of Maine from last year in my opinion is absolutely astronomical. His breaking stuff isnt great, good, or perhaps isnt even average- but he throws it with great confidence and he's shown great improvement in his arsenal over last year.

Went to the game today, Maine deserved better. Gotay has TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE range, my lord TERRIBLE range at 2nd base. There was a ball up the middle hit by Pierre sharply that should of been an inning ending DP but ended up being a bigger inning then it should of.
Maine was in trouble a lot but got out of jams on sheer stuff. His slider was **** wicked, and his FB had good movement. His changeup is something to be desired though. I cant believe Boomer bunted for that single also, that pissed me off so much...
Milledge is terrible in the corner OF defensively. In CF he looks smooth and knows what he's doing, he lacks instincts at the corner, there's going to be some growing painsbut that boy sure can rake if he lays off those damn sliders.
Wright is a beast and that strike he was called out for against Broxton was bull.
Alou PISSES ME OFF, he did not take ONE, ONE single pitch, he swung at every single pitch.
This team better step the **** up this next series, we really should sweep this series.
