In visiting are the Cleveland Browns.

Versus the Jets. Here's to praying the season isn't a total disaster...

Image

QB: Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. Josh McCown
RB: Chris Ivory vs. Isaiah Crowell
WR: Eric Decker, Brandon Marshall vs. Brian Hartline, Andrew Hawkins
TE: Jeff Cumberland vs. Gary Barnidge

Cheers fellas, another season is upon us. Let's hope Fitzy can lead us to a win here in Week 1. The Browns still have a messy passing game, but their defense and running game is young and on the rise. D here will be key to getting the W.

Roll call! Sign in this thread here for the season. I'm ready. Let's go Jets.

I'm starved for football right now! I can't wait until this season kicks off. It's going to be an exciting year. This defense will keep the Jets in every game, so if the offense can come up with a few game winning drives, and not caugh the ball up constantly, we'll be in the hunt for the playoffs. Karma is going to hit the Patriots like a freight train this year. Anything can happen.

I don't think you could pick a better opponent to debut against. A questionable offense for our D and running game to play field position against.

Did our offense just get awesome?

Lot of experts picked Ivory to have a breakout year. Really hope this is it for him. Would add so much to our arsenal.

Good win, but some really scary injuries today. Cromartie's knee scares the hell out of me while my mind thinks the worst for Mauldin could be some form of paralysis.

Thoughts:
The Good - The defensive takeaways were so damned refreshing. This team was putting hard hits on players all day and the forced fumbles were earned. The offense did its part by taking advantage and turning the takeaways into points. Ivory was making things happen all game, Marshall stepped up whenever we needed momentum, Decker took advantage of his match-up and Owusu made plays. Fitz was as advertised, a solid QB who didn't hurt us and let the defense create opportunities.

The bad - QB's ate us up on the ground. We were pretty good collapsing the pocket and controlling the line against the RB's but if not for a couple of fumbles, we really coulda been hurt by QB's on the run. Miscommunications in the secondary were few enough not to be alarmed but also weren't something I'd like to see. The LB's do nothing for me especially with Mauldin hurt. I don't know that I noticed a TE on the field for us in a good or bad sense.

The Ugly - Cro's knee injury looked bad and Bowles would like one on one's on the outside. Prayers out to Mauldin because that didn't look normal, but it sounds like he's alright so fingers crossed. The entire first half was a practice in doing just enough to survive really, the Browns outplayed us if not for their TO's but that game could have had a completely different outlook if not for the TO's. The second half is what I expect from our guys, but that first half was pretty scary. Kerley's fall off in this system is pretty sad, I'd wanted us to deal him after the Marshall trade but now his value is likely at an all time low.

I love the way the defense is going for the ball now. It's definitely nice to see that extra bit of aggression. It seemed like Rex's Ds were more conservative in tackling, while Bowles encourages taking the risk to make the big play.

It turns out Cromartie was just a sprain and Mauldin was concussed. I was really worried that they were career enders. Finally something goes right for the Jets!

With all that said, the Browns have major issues on offense. It should have been an ownage. But their D is pretty tough, so that is a great sign for the offense moving forward. The Colts will be a real test. Luck is no McCown or Manziel.
