This is two weeks now where the O-line is absolutely collapsing against simple four man rushes and has no ability to pick a stunt. You've got the youngest QB ever, completely predictable play calling and an o-line that doesn't buy time. We knew the pass rush would be an issue and it really shows once the Jets run out of exotic looks. Leonard Williams is basically our push at the line and that's all we've got; so three games in 11 days relying on one guy for all our pressure just wasn't gonna hold up. The good news, Williamson and Lee both looked really solid imo and I really think an edge rusher would turn this defense into a problem.

The thing is, we were a year away from the jump. The WR's are all solid but no one great (although Enunwa has been eye opening); our O-line needs work with a GM that refuses to draft Offensive linemen; the edge rush does not exist most of the time; and our QB has all of the tools but a LOT to learn. I'm already content with another tank year. Get another few high draft picks early and use that massive cap space to address the major areas of need. The fact we started off gang busters makes we wonder if things will look a lot better on some extended and much needed rest, but even so we're not in a position to rush this.

He had all the opportunity to be a hero, but couldn't wait to throw the game ending picks that everybody knew was coming. :nonono: I mean even if he played ok in a loss, it woulnd't have been that bad, but an argument could be made that the jets lost to the crap Browns BECAUSE of Darnold (the penalties being the other). Way to go kid. Sanchez level there. :banghead: :(

An argument could be made that he was at fault. I think more blame should go to the conservative playcalling, no in-game adjustments (or even at halftime), trench battle (seriously, nothing pisses me off much more than allowing pressure on a 4-man rush), and the defense overall was pretty terrible allowing the Browns to score nearly every drive when Mayfield came in. The penalties were pretty terrible as well, especially the ones on defense that allowed those Browns drives to continue.

I'm actually quite content with him starting, even in his terrible games. Let him get his snaps and let him continue to learn on the field, with the tablet, and in the film room.

Well after the 1st game i had Is this Real Life moment, but after game 2 and 3 expectation is back where it should be.

Still surprised we lost to Celeveland though, not to mention Mayfield has a monster arm. He was ripping it to his receivers.

This is what was so disheartening, its not that we lost, its how much head and shoulders above Darnold Mayfield was. Its not like Mayfield's receivers are better. But it was an alarming contrast to the level of talent (and confidence) and the effect they had on the players

I just hope Darnold rebounds in the next game
