Game 2 (04/03/07)

Location:
Image
Miller Park.
Milwaukee, WI

Time: 7:05pm CDT

Projected Temp.: Mid 50s, Rain Showers likley. Roof Closed.

TV: FSN Wisconsin
Series Results:
Game 1- Brewers 7 Dodgers 1
Attendance: 45,341
Player of the Game:
Image
Ben Sheets (1-0)
Dominant performance by Sheets. Had great command and showed an improved arsenal of pitches.

Key Turning Point of the game:
In the bottom of the fourth Geoff Jenkins hit a double to left field that Luiz Gonzalez lost track of. Prince Fielder and Johnny Estrada scored to sxtand the lead to 6-1 and knock out Derek Lowe who struggled all day with his control.

_________________________________________________
Probable Starters:

Starting Pitchers

Image
Chris Capuano

He throws in the low 90s, Ks twice as many as he walks. Posseses good movement on his fastball, slider and changeup. Very smart pitcher. Has to cut down on longballs.

vs.

Image
Randy Wolf

Throws a fastball, curve, changeup, slider and cutter. He sets up his fastball with a big, looping crveball that is sometimes thrown in the mid-70s. He also features an above-average changeup. That makes his 90-MPH fastball appear to get on hitters more quickly than it actually does. {itches with very aggresive nature. Undergone a Tomy John surgery in 2005 and only started 12 games last season.

Projected Lineup:

Brewers-

Player-----------Career Highlights vs. Randy Wolf
2B Rickie Weeks 1 for 3 (.333), 1K
SS J.J Hardy 2 for 5 (.400), 1 HR
1B Prince Fielder NEVER FACED
CF Bill Hall 1 for 10 (.100), 3K, 3 BB
C Johnny Estrada 4 for 8 (.500), 1 2B
LF Geoff Jenkins 3 for 12 (.250), 6 K
RF Cory Hart NEVER FACED
3B Craig Counsell 0 for 8 (OUCH!), 1K, 1 BB
P Chris Capuano STAT UNAVAILABLE

Key Injuries: 3B Cory Koskie (15 day DL- Recovery from post-concussive syndrome)

Dodgers-

Player-------------Career Highlights vs. Chris Capuano
CF Juan Pierre 7 for 21 (.333), 1 SB
C Ruvell Martin 3 for 6 (.500), 2 2B, 2 RBI
1B Nomar Garciappra 2 for 10 (.200), 4K
2B Jeff Kent 6 for 19 (.316), 1 RBI, 4 K
LF Luis Gonzalez 4 for 10 (.333)
3B Wilson Betemit 0 for 3, 1 K
RF Andre Ethier 0 for 3, 1 K
SS Ramon Martinez 3 for 8 (.375), 2 RBI, 2 K
P Randy Wolf STAT UNAVAILABLE

Key Injuries: SS Rafael Furcal (15 day DL- Sprained left Ankle)

Keys to the Game:
-Offense Be Aggressive.
Randy Wolf is a very capable pitcher, an All Star couple of seasons ago. Gotta force him into long counted and not swing at bad pitches.
- Cappy dont force anything
Capuano has to stay in control. Cant afford to fall behind in the count, especially in the top of the order.

Image
Rickie Weeks

Weeks has to be able to get on base and in scoring position. Wolf pitches his worse with Runners in scoring position.

Prediction:
The brewers will need a solid performance from cappy. I think Cappy shows up to play and has a big outing.

Brewers 4
Dodgers 2

Wow, Hopeally we can do as good as today xD. I've always had high expectations from Cappy though. Well, until he became crap last season...

Well good God, B4L, way to blow mine out of the water.

It's FSN Wisconsin now, not FSN North.

Great job with the game thread!

I'm a huge Cappy fan and I'm hoping his shaky spring was only due to him working on some new pitches and not a continuation of his second half last year. Lets hope we can jump on Wolf early and give Cappy an early cushion.

For some reason when I read that (and B4L's response) it made me think of Field of Dreams when Shoeless Joe first appears and asks about the lights. Ray says that the owners decided that more people would attend games if they held them at night. Shoeless Joe simply shakes his head with disgust and says "Owners" Very random but thought Id share.

BTW awesome game thread B4L..now youre obligated to make 160 more

Randy Wolf is left handed. I would probably change Jenkins to Mench and Counsell to Graffanino so you don't have to do it later. 8)

Yeah basically the most impressive game thread ever :). I hope they can pull through. It always seems they have trouble with guys like Wolf. LHP who dont throw hard and just have good control. Im guessing its gonna be Mench and Graffy in the lineup today. Hardy played great yesterday hopefully he puts another good game up today. I Love Baseball!!

With all the stuff about Suppan signing and the hopes that Sheets can stay healthy, Capuano has flown under the radar. We really need a solid season out of him, let's hope he has a good start to the season.

This will be a tough game as Wolf has dominated his last two starts at Miller. Capuano will definitely have a tough act to follow in Sheets and could struggle a little bit trying to do too much.

If we are going to win we need to get production out of guys like Estrada, Mench, and Graffanino.

EDIT: Yeah, I'm going to the Bucks game tonight... :noway:

Awesome thread B4L. Unfortunately I have to travel to Montreal tonight for work so I will miss it but you did a great job. Maybe I can get some web access and gamecast it or listen to it on the radio over the web.
