I use to be a banker/loan officer/service specialist at North Community Bank, about two blocks from Wrigley, and we would get every fan from every opposing team come in.

Every Cub fan that worked in that bank had their words with opposing fans that happened to stroll in and use the ATM but never once did it result in a negative way. All fun and games.

One day a guy walks in with a Pittsburgh Pirates hat on. The old one, striped with the old logo. My VP gave him crap about it and said he was just trying to relive their glory days. He continued to bark about Clemente being the only player worth anything in their franchise and that they(Pirates) should just consider themselves a Cub minor league affil. (this was right after the ARAM trade). After an hour of baseball talk with several employees in the bank(during a game, when the bank is extremely slow) I thought I'd never see him again.

About a month later he comes in with his brother, dressed as business men are. They apply for a loan and we realize his father is the owner of Hi-Tops bar across the street from the field. The loan amount was for 60K, pretty small for a business loan, but it was for improvements. (which we later found out.. improvements=a bunch of new plasmas for the bar). The guys were so thrilled about the service and the repoir we had built up with them they insisted on their father transfering the business accounts with our bank.

About a year later the guys came back offered every VP and senior banker a trip to Pittsburgh to attend a game then hang out at Hi-Tops in Pitt. Obviously most of them agreed and later they find out thats where the Cub players hang out after the game.

Moral of the story: A bank is not a place to establish sour relationships.

Side note: Go watch, "For Love or Money" with Michael J. Fox

What I said was not even half as bad as what your VP said. He said that the pirates aren't even a major league team. The pirates guy was just cool and my guy was just a spazz.

First off, lets make this clear... this isn't about a Cub fans vs. Brewer fan argument.

This is strictly a business ethics discussion.

I understand you wanted to point out that the Cub fan was spastic. That point has been made.

Having said that...

Lets highlight some things you said.

YOU SAID wrote:He gets all mad and starts acting all pissy

This is when you should've played relations control and turned the argument into a comedic one. No hard feelings just a sports butting of heads. Your in a bank not a ballpark.

This would be a good time to swallow some pride.

YOU SAID wrote:My Boss (a fellow Brewers fan) is just laughing in this guys face.

My Boss then turns to me."Nice. Less Cubs fans the better."

Your boss is an idiot.

He might've wanted to look cool in front of you, but his response in front of the fan was uncalled for.

Banks are a business that thrives off of customer service and relationships. Enough said.

My point is baseball arguments, heck sports arguments are always fun, but you have to know your place.

Not saying it was ever going to happen, but what if you had built up a good repoir with that guy and one day hes dropping by for a deposit and has Brewer tickets against the Cubs that he can't use...?

I am not arguing that what I said was professional. I was just joking, and he took it the wrong way. O well. Not losing any sleep over it.

He said that after he left. I suppose that wasn't really clear.

Eh. I wouldn't want to get anything from a Cubs fan. It would smell, and be really annoying. :)

Tell me about it, I live in the Quad city area (IL-IA) and it's cubs, bears, bulls fans...

of the three teams, cubs nation is the worst by far.

I see your point. We aren't in your division or even the same conference and we haven't played in god knows how long. The only reason I don't completely ignore the Brewers is because of Prince Fielder.

1. I think you mean league and not conference. :)

2. 2005 seems like 50 years ago.

I thought of saying league but then it sounds like it means the Brewers are way better

But yeah we like never play. One or two series in 5 years isn't important.

Cubs suck?

They're better than the Brewers, no offense.
Looks like the Brewers' post season dreams are gone...

ROFL If the Jays were in the NL Central, we would've locked up the division after the first month.
