Not a very good first game for the Sox, but I suppose they can only improve.

Completely unexpected. I thought that Meche and Schilling would've reserved roles. I couldn't believe that Schilling was struggling against a weak Royals lineup (although probably improved).

Of course it was just one game but as flat as our team came out in an opener isn't really giving good signs about a team that struggled a lot at the end of last season... I hope Beckett and Dice-K will start strong and lead the way.

Beckett's new beginning starts today.

Let's Go Red Sox!
"The guy is an idiot," Pedroia said regarding Cabrera. "I dropped my bat. It kind of freaked me out. I was upset they took him out of the game. He is good to hit. He's 9-15. The guy [stinks]."

I hope we get the good Josh Beckett tonight. That opening day performance from Curt was shameful to say the least.

J.D. Drew with the RBI! OMG!

Good start to the season for him. 2/3 with a walk and an RBI.

Mike Lowell, the double machine. Hopefully people will stop complaining about the offense.

2 run double for Lowell. 3-0 Sox, great start...let's hope Beckett can have a solid outing.

I love the drew/lowell combo. jd is a young, lefty, OF version of lowell. good doubles and rbi guy, fields his position as well as anyone in the game.

Man, Beckett is looking pretty bad out there. He has absolutely zero command of his fastball and I don't think I've seen more than a couple curveballs.

Wow, Mike Lowell with two consecutive errors.

Imagine if he were A-Rod and he were in Boston. Ha.

Beckett has struggled with his command big time so it is nice to see him battle through that inning with KC remaining scoreless despite Lowell's 2 errors. Excellent range by Drew, that ball is in the gap if Trot was still here.

He's looked OK but the weather has really messed with the command of his curve. He has only thrown two or three for strikes all game. It is nice to see him pounding the zone with those two seamers and his change is now around an acceptable 86 range so I am lukewarm with his game so far. Certainly room for improvement but the results I'm alright with. mahalo
