Trent Baalke Out as GM of the Jags

Post#1 » by Pattersonca65 » Thu Jan 27, 2022 6:03 pm

Leftwich apparently told the Jags he would not work under Baalke and according to the article others declined to interview. This confirms just how toxic Baalke must have been in the 49ers FO. He wasn't just bad at building a roster

Can't believe he got that job in the first place. Dude was a train wreck as a GM.

He was a big part of this team's history although it was mostly a really bad one

How long was he there?

Did he keep drafting redshirt ACL specials?

I didn’t support him. But some of the players he drafted are still on the roster I believe and it’s been 5-10 years since he last ran a draft for the 49ers?

Never liked Baalke.

Trent benefitted from McCloughan's roster building & and 2010 draft board Scot created before he left. He also got extremely jealous that Harbaugh was the face of the franchise, and was getting the credit for the team's success.

I'll never forgive Baalke for his COMPLETE whiff of a 2012 draft. That was an unmitigated disaster of a draft class, which hurt tremendously as 49ers were in a super bowl window at the time.

I can't believe Baalke got another bite at the apple, but its fitting that it was the Jags who gave him that opportunity. Jags are a rudderless ship of a franchise, and brought in a clueless GM.

He has a couple of guys left on the roster but even a dart board can produce better results. If you look at his overall draft record it is poor. There are still some Baalke guys in the NFL overall but almost all of them like Blake Bell are roll players.

I believe Tartt was a Baalke pick.

He's now a free agent.

Guessing he's not going to command much in the free agent market.

Not only the dropped interception but they had him as single high safety on the first TD pass to Kupp, in the right corner of the end zone. He got there too late, though Stafford did a good job of holding him in the center.

There was one other play where he took a bad angle coming up to tackle and let a Rams WR run for more yardage.

The NFL no longer seems to place a high value on safeties. The last several years there seemed to be quite a few quality safeties that hung around the FA market looking for deals. Seattle went against the grain when it gave up all that draft capital and money for Adams. I think if they had to chance to do that one again they would not have done it.
