Past two drafts have been weak at the top, but pretty deep. This draft especially weak at the top.

Could be partly because of COVID. Lots of guys missed a year of development. Tons of older players in this draft.

There are several intriguing guys who often make it to the end of the third in Quan Martin, Ji'Ayir Brown, and Sydney Brown. The quality of guy in the fifth round is pretty rough. I would settle for a Daniel Scott in the hopes that his physical tools translate with good, NFL-level coaching, but I don't have a ton of faith in that. If we can add a guy with legit, long-term starter potential, I think we've got to at least strongly consider it.

I don’t like not one of those prospects you’ve listed. Perhaps Quan Martin. I’d rather go with Antonio Johnson or Brandon Joseph. Skinner is going somewhere in the second so I don’t think we have a shot at him.

Just to return to this for a moment, certainly not Gospel, but the consensus big board has Skinner at 92. I'm not sure he's what we need. Can he play FS? Brandon Joseph is a guy to consider late, but I wonder if he has the physical tools to be a starter (no testing numbers other than bench above 44%, and his RAS is 4.2). I'd rather take a shot on Scott in a similar range, even though his film isn't great. Probably wasn't getting top-notch coaching at Cal, so you hope you can work with the elite tools.

Traded up for S Ju'Ayir Brown from Penn State. I don't love trading up in general, but I don't hate the move. Brown was the last safety I liked in the third. He could be a starting caliber guy, though we may have the slowest safety pair in the league....

Solid pick that addresses an area of need.

He reminds me of Hufanga. He has that ball hawk mentality but like Hufanga he has some serious flaws when asked to play man.

I thought so too, they were saying he takes big risks and can be out of position because of it. Hopefully he can develop and learn under Gipson this year and take over next

I preferred Brandon Joseph. Could have gotten him in the later rounds. However I’m not gonna complain too much. It’s a good pick since it addresses a big need.

And they take a kicker in the third round. Of course they did. Morons.

Knew we were gonna take him but the 3rd round comp pick seems way too soon but it does seem to be a big need

Brown and Joseph have similar 40 times and exactly the same 10-yard splits. I think the difference is that Brown is willing and physical in run support, something that the Niners have stressed in their DB's.

Maybe you take Moody in the 5th. In the third? With our second pick? This team has so few valuable picks. We cannot waste them on a kicker. Not to mention that rookie kickers have an awful track record. We should have addressed OT, DE, or WR. Unbelievable.

Our approach this year is definitely drafting for need.

Not surprised we drafted a kicker; just surprised we used a 3rd round pick on him. I would have figured we take an edge rusher and TE with the 2 remaining 3rd round picks.
