2020 NFL DRAFT OFFICIAL thread

Post#1 » by Bingo_AlphaMan » Thu Apr 23, 2020 9:12 pm

I hate this year’s draft. Not because of COVID but because we’re missing too many key players. Pozz, Deep, Mind, Ray, Yoshi, and the rest of the gang. It’s not the same!

BILL O'BRIEN
C, HOUSTON TEXANS

ESPN's Dianna Russini reports the Texans are looking to trade back into the first round.

Trader Bill (O'Brien) has only two selections in the top 90, though one of them is No. 40, making a move perhaps not inconceivable. The other is No. 90, however, leaving the Texans with strikingly little ammo. O'Brien can never stop trading, but he has probably left his cupboard too bare to pull off this kind of move this year.

CEEDEE LAMB
WR, COLLEGE PLAYER

ESPN's Josina Anderson confirms the Raiders "really like" Oklahoma WR CeeDee Lamb.

It's confirmation of what NBC's Peter King reported earlier this week. The Raiders have long been desperate for a playmaker at wideout, and there is not a more explosive receiver with higher upside in this year's draft than Lamb. The first of the Raiders' two first-rounders comes at No. 12. Lamb has been (loosely) connected to the Cardinals at No. 8.

Ian Rap basically confirms that the Bengals are taking Joe Burrow #1 and that the Dolphins were very aggressive in trying to get that pick.

Expecting 4 WR in the top 20. Not sure if one comes off in the top 10, we'll see.

Ian Rappoport reporting to not expect a trade for #2. Looks like Burrow and Young going 1 and 2, which is no shock. #3 looks to be the spot where the fun starts.

40 and 90 is just about right for 31. It's a slight overpay based on the trade chart, but very close to the value on the trade chart for last year's trade at the 31st pick. I'd strongly consider a move like that. There should be talent at WR and CB at 40. Maybe see if O'Brien will throw in next year's third pick, too.

I wouldn't mind a trade up to 9 or so to get one of the tackles (Thomas or Wills). I'd rather have one of them than Derrick Brown; I don't think Brown is going to be anything all that special. He'll be very good, but I think these tackles will be better.

Otherwise, stay put and take CB CJ Henderson from Florida.

Matt Maiocco on KNBR: "I kind of doubt it" on Joe Staley resuming his playing career.

Uh oh.

This is actually good news if it's true. He was never the same, and he kept getting hurt when it mattered the most.

Should've traded him last offseason and traded for Trent Williams. :nonono:

Trade up for Andrew Thomas. He's a monster.

Brunskill played good in his absence if that's where they want to go and can't move up. It's not set in stone statement from Maiocco though. Wouldn't surprise me either way, but at least, it seems like 2020 could be his final season.

Brunskill needs to play RG IMO. That's where he should've played in the SB (and they probably would've won).

I'd rather go in a different direction for tackle.

Shanahan really helped out his tackles with his playcalling when Staley and McGlinchey went down. I wouldn't put much stock in Brunskill's performance or expect him to be able to perform at a high level for a season/s.

I want an OT, but I really hope we don't take Mekhi Becton. Hoping Thomas or Wills falls to us, though, I'm not counting on it. If one of them is there (or Wirfs, but I think he goes much higher), I think it's a no-brainer given how hard it is to find talent at the tackle position.

Wirfs, Wills, and Thomas, at the very least, look like top 10 picks. Becton may go in that group, but hard to see the Jets at 11 passing on him.
