Great first game - was very impressed withthe at bats in the last inning...very professional at bats by glaus and wells...

Jansen lookes great out there and if he continues to pitch that way may find himself in the rotation before long

Good entertaining first game. Enjoyed it from start to finish. Nice piece of hitting by glaus to get us the victory and good job by Bj with the save.
How good did Jansen look out there?

Sounds like it was a fantastic game; **** me for having a job.
Here's to many more!

belowtherim wrote:I just found out about these forums, and I'm extremely excited to say the least :). I can't wait for this game, I'm at work, but I'll have the Yahoo! Sports game channel going.

We need to rethink the way we do the game threads, we can't take the Raptor model because we have too many players, maybe an overhead of the field with everyone in their positions, I'll try and make something for the next game thread (though i'm hoping this never happens since we'll be having a 162-0 season :D)

So excited!! I'm going to throw up a daily papers thread right now see if we can't get that tradition started here

Feel free to make the next game thread if you so desire. I'm no good with graphics, so if you have a format in mind, be my guest.

I was watching the game at fitness. I had to fight for the remote lol because some of the girls were watching soap operas and none of the guys liked baseball.

Needless to say the blue jays game was on in my fitness class.

Anyway great game. Would have liked doc to get the win but id rather have a win than nothing.

And our offense looks real sexy. Other than clayton of course.

Clayton made some nice plays in the feild and had a walk and a hit...I think he will be fine...

I like how we can pinch hit stairs for him and still havbe the abiolity to bring in JOnny Mac off teh bench

Fixed  I've said it before, Zaun can only hit lefties, yet for some reason our management says "well, he's better against righties" which is absolute BS his number are MUCH better against lefties.

Go Jays.

The OTC Blue Jays thread is dead... Long live the Blue Jays board!

I'm always a fan of an opening day win.

Not really a Jays fan but I like them better than the Leafs.

GO JAYS!

While that might have been seomwhat true the past 2 seasons, Zaun's career OPS splits are pretty close. 748 vs LHP and 724 vs RHP. That's not considered a huge difference. And he was/is definitely stronger than Molina was vs RHP.

Either way folks, let's not start overreacting to 1 game. It's a long season.

Masai is overrated.
I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

This needs to be emphasized, especially for people who don't follow baseball that much. This is a long season. The Jays (and every team) are going to have stretches where they won't hit. They'll have stretches where they won't pitch. And vice versa. Hopefully when everything evens out the Jays will be in the 90+ win territory, but it's a LONG season. Overreacting over single games is unneccesary.

With that said, good win today. When it became a battle of the bullpens, I thought the Jays had no shot against Detroit, but we got excellent production from Janssen and Frasor. I'm glad to see the team using Janssen for multiple innings. It will make his eventual transition to the rotation much easier (if/when League sorts himself out). I actually felt Janssen should have pitched against Casey, since he had retired the first 7 batters he faced rather harmlessly, but Gibbons tends to overdue the match-ups, so we'll just have to get used to it.

Nice way to start the season.

How come there is no game tomorrow tho? I can't recall the last time I saw a day break in between games in the same series. Is it because it was the season opener or something?

It's very common in the first week of the season. MLB likes to space the season openers out over two or three days. A lot of teams will play on either the Monday or Tuesday of opening week, but not both. Last year I think the Jays were off on the Monday and played Tuesday (but I could be wrong, that was a year ago after all! :) )

Oh, and I have to agree - very nice way to start the year! I kept checking the score on mlb.com every so often at work - can't wait to actually catch a game!

Never get excited about baseball till the end of August. If the team is still winning then, that means the team is for real

As you can see I've been burned too many times
