Liked Canales, but probably too much Pete on him for ownership. the competition for Ben and Mike is slimming though!

The rumor is that Ben Johnson to Washington is a done deal.

Which leaves us deciding between...

Slowik
MacDonald
Vrabel
Quinn
???

They could completely shock us & go with one of the other names (Evero, Graham, Kafka). But my hope is that they're taking their time because they want MacDonald.

I hope you are right. I would rate Johnson slightly ahead of Mike, but I'd be happy with either and hope both are good young coaches that are part of the next wave.

I don't want anything to do with a 3/4 defensive coach. So... yeah no Evero

I don't have an issue with it, as long as they get the right guy. Imo Evero would make more sense as a DC here. You can hire an offensive guy & then name Evero the DC. Part of me wonders if that's why they've brought in guys like Kafka (OC), to see if they fit as coordinators.

This is exactly why MacDonald is my first choice. Ben Johnson & the Lions had no answers when they faced off earlier this year.

If we want to completely transform the defense, then MacDonald is by far the best candidate.

Fwiw, I think Johnson would be a good choice too. But I think it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that he's taking the Washington job.

My list:
1. MacDonald
2. Johnson
3. Vrabel

I still would view Vrabel as a solid hire as well. If John wants to get back to being the bully, then he's the right hire. His teams are tough & play a physical brand of Football. I'd be all for it.

There are some who have viewed Johnson as the "presumptive favorite" for the Washington job, but multiple sources insist that is not true. While Johnson could land the Commanders head coaching job, sources insist that there are other strong candidates -- most notably Macdonald, Weaver, Glenn and Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn -- who still are "very much in play."

Now Rapoport is confirming their interest!

Seahawks general manager John Schneider has been methodical in his search that is now set to ramp up. After speaking with Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero this weekend, Seattle plans to meet for a second time with Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson early in the week. After that, the Seahawks' search committee expects to be in Baltimore if the Ravens lose. That way, it can speak with impressive young defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald for the first time.

People want an offensive guy because that's the popular trend. But this dude is just different. Sometimes the best move isn't always the most popular one.
