June 2007 Thoughts

May 2007 Thoughts
April 2007 Thoughts

What a wild month Cub fans. It all started on June 1st when the infamous clubhouse/dugout fight between Carlos Zambrano and Michael Barrett occurred.

1) Barrett missed a pitch that could have easily been caught.

2) In the dugout Barrett pointed to the scoreboard.

3) All hell broke loose.

The next day, Lou Pinella was ejected for arguing a call. He kicked dirt on the umpire and kicked his hat. This may have been a plot to fire up his team and I guess it worked.

We went into Milwaukee and took 2 out of 3. Then we split a 4 game series with Atlanta. On the Sunday Night game, Ted Lilly got ejected in the 1st inning because the ump "knew" he was going to do that.

We then beat the Astros in a 1 game snowed out series. We took 2 out of 3 from PhillipNelsonFan's Mariners. The Padres (Michael Barrett's future team) came in and took 2 out of 3 and in Texas we only took 1 game out of 3 against the Texas Rangers.

Then we headed to US Cellular Field for a 3 game series against the White Sox. In game 1, Zambrano threw a masterpiece giving us a 5-1 victory. In game 2, a suicide squeeze by Ryan Theriot gave us the lead and the 2-1 victory. Game 3 we won but we will not forget the inteference play with Hawk screaming his head out and saying things like "DAT'S BS" and "The umps are inventing things out there"

We swept our crosstown rivals!

Then, the Colorado Rockies came into town and what a game it was. We led by 5 runs in the 9th and the Rockies came back to take the lead.
A drunk fan went after Bobby Howry on the mound and was tackled.

In the bottom of the 9th, the Cubs rallied and an Alfonso Soriano basehit brought in 2 runs to give the Cubs the win!

The Cubs took the next 2 games for another sweep.

Then, the biggest series of the year came around. The Milwaukee Brewers led 5-0 after the 1st inning in game 1 at Wrigley but the Cubs rallied back again. The Cubs were down 5-3 going into the bottom of the 9th. With a runner on 3rd Derrek Lee brought him in with a sac fly to right. Aramis Rameriz then came up and hit a game winning walkoff homer to give the Cubs the win and a big 7 game win streak.

The Brewers came back to kill the Cubs in game 2 of the series.

I will happy if we win tomorrow. This loss today made me forget about our 7 game win streak and very nice winning June record. Keep a close distance with Milwaukee and just keep winning. We will gain ground whether it be in the NL Central or the Wild Card. This Cubs team is very talented and may go...
