Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young had surgery on his injured right thumb Monday afternoon, according to titansradio.com.

Head coach Jeff Fisher said the surgery would leave Young, who tore the flexor tendon in the thumb of his throwing hand, unable to throw for several weeks.

Young is on injured reserve and therefore out for the season.

"It was told to us that it would be season ending, so I'm going to assume that it's five-to-eight weeks or something like that," Fisher said.

"The thumb will be immobilized. That's the nature of the surgery is to immobilize the thumb so they can reattach the tendons. So, we were told somewhere in the five-to-eight week range."
