Lillard is on the wrong side of 30 and yet another player who's always injured. I'd much rather get that #3 pick if we're trading PG.

I like that deal with Lillard.. definitely not for the long-term, but is what it is.

Still critical this team also upgrades at PF, or C.. overall talent. Playing a bunch of limited SFs/tweeners at PF ain't getting it done.. when Zubac while solid on both ends, isn't enough to make up for the issues at the smaller-big spot.

Need to balance it out and actually get someone who will help Zu' on the glass and around the paint defensively with some decent overall size. Then, be reliable on offense, but doesn't have to be all-star level there.

Reminds me of the SF/big-wing issue the clippers had from 2012 to 2018.

Allegedly Wiz are trying to send CP3 to Clips (Clips keen). Im not familiar with your roster and cap situation, any thoughts on what your guys would send out to meet CP3s salary?

Harden is better than Mann, let's be serious. But there's just no reason for Ballmer to invest any of his/our future in the current edition until it's certain Kawhi and PG are healthy, interested, and able to make a realistic run for the whole enchilada. Even a Finals appearance is not a high enough goal.

Trade deadline is February 8, 2024. Let's talk then. Maybe.

Everyone gets an all star... Clips get Dame, Knicks get Harden, Portland gets Randle, Philly gets PG.

Russ/Bones
Dame/Powell
Kawhi/Mann/Boston
Batum/K. Brown/Covington
Nurkic/Plumlee

When Kawhi/Dame sit Mann/Covington moved to the starting rotation

Rudy Waived

I would keep an eye on Gay. If Clippers go all in for superstar James Harden in the farm trade, they will be short handed - Gay could be signed for depth purposes. But he's a cursed player: never won a playoff series, never made an All-Star Game, and missed playoffs in 14 of his 17 seasons. Signing him could mean missing playoffs completely or losing in 1st round instantly - but Clippers have a history of turning role players into Sixth Man award candidates. They are the franchise where careers go to die, but once in a while those soon to be departed go out with a bang - just look at Jamal Crawford and Lou Williams.

I'd love to pick up Tyler Herro if we can get a deal for facilitating the Dame to Miami trade. I don't think he's dramatically overpaid (contracts like these generally look better in a couple of years as the cap rises), and a really good player at only 23 years.

nice numbers but nobody is making a move on his big contract

I think the NBA is readjusting to the "current thing"

young athleticism that makes it to and through the playoffs

frankly, Ballmer was not wrong--2 athletic 6'8" wings who can rebound, assist and 3-and-D?

but he bought used cars

Id do this trade in a heart beat. Then flip one of the picks with zubac/Morris/Powell for Harden.

The Trade Proposal
Los Angeles Clippers Receive: F Bojan Bogdanovic, C James Wiseman, G/F Alec Burks, 2024 First-Round Pick (DET), 2026 First-Round Pick (DET)
Detroit Pistons Receive: G/F Paul George

Westbrook
Harden
Kawhi
Bogdanovic
Plumlee

Bones
Mann
Covington/Boston
Batum/K.Brown/Martin Jr.
Wiseman

With Spurs waiving Payne, rather cut Jay and give him that backup 1 spot

According to Basketball Reference, Bones played 100% of his Clipper minutes at PG. I'd say he's the favorite.

Expectations
Bones Hyland is the Clippers’ locked in backup point guard for the 2024 season behind Russell Westbrook. In fact, since Jason Preston is likely to be waived or traded before the season, Bones is really the only other true point guard on the roster outside of Russ (Terance Mann can play point guard but the Clippers clearly don’t want him to). The Clippers didn’t give up a ton for Bones at last trade deadline (just a couple of 2nd round picks) but they clearly like him a lot, and his energy, shooting, and pace bring elements that the Clippers are clearly lacking. Bones should get 15-18 minutes per game pretty steadily off the bench, play more when he’s hot, and start when Russ is out. It’s maybe not the role that he wants, but it’s a consistent one unless he really messes up.

Bones totally slipped my mind when I made that post, I thought I came back and edited it, obviously, I didn't.

Still wouldn't mind Payne as an emergency option.

I expect he'll get more opportunity elsewhere, though. The Sixers have Harden [?] and then nothing besides Beverley and Maxey, who aren't true PGs.
