In general, everyone's body is different, some guys can come back and feel at their best sooner than others. We also have to add that in terms of his body and injuries, Kawhi is not the average pro athlete, his lower body is more fragile and susceptible than other pro athletes, it's just part of his life.

It seems like a lot of people still want to live in a world where Kawhi is just an average player when it comes to injury proneness and resilience, so they respond and react to his injury situations that way, but he simply isn't. Just because he's jacked and all that doesn't mean much except that he's working hard.

Has played 70 games only twice in his career, the last time when he was 25. Skepticism is warranted.

Players like Beverley, Montrezl Harrell and Lou Williams — Clippers bedrocks before the arrival of Leonard and George — bristled when Leonard was permitted to take games off to manage his body and to live in San Diego, which often led to him being late for team flights, league sources said. The team also allowed Leonard to dictate to Rivers when he could be pulled from games, among other things.

By all accounts, both Kawhi and the team have turned over a new leaf, that the regular season MUST be taken more seriously. This is why.

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be skeptical about

That the 2023-24 Kawhi will be a different man than 2019-2020 Kawhi, of course.

Kawhi waltzed in here and demanded special treatment [including a private locker room with his pal PG], was a self-centered and inconsiderate teammate [showing up late and taking games off], a megasalaried non-leader, and then choked in The Bubble. And let's not forget his war on one of the greatest coaches and orgs in NBA history, Popovich's San Antonio Spurs, forcing a trade to Toronto then breaking the hearts of the entire Canadian nation by leaving.

They say a team takes its character from its best player. Kawhi will never be a vocal leader like Steph or Bron or Giannis--who have won 9 of the last 11 championships. And 10 of 11 if you count Joker last year, who's pretty damn firey. The exception is Kawhi's 2019 Raptors team, and you can make the case that Kyle Lowry was the leader of that team and Kawhi was along for the ride [like Durant with Steph's Warriors].

At last, in his FIFTH year as a Clipper, Kawhi is making all the right noises. Although not a vocal leader, they say Kawhi leads by example. Well, you can't do that from the bench.

There is little in his history that inspires confidence this new Kawhi is the REAL Kawhi. I'm all ready to believe, but skepticism IS warranted. Get on the court and STAY on the court, Mr. Lead-By-Example.

Think that tweet provides some insight into why the Clips made the move for Harden sooner rather than later.
