It's like when you play pickup and the game is up to 7, win by two, straight to 9, a team goes up 5-0 and then loses 8-6

Of course it is only funny when you're not on the losing side

Yep. And agreeing with esqtvd about the Ruin of Paul George ... who seems to get $#!t on for having bad stretches. I mean, dude is averaging 24-6-4.5 on a 45/38/93 line and leading the team in on/off. He must be doing something right. 8-)

p.s. Thanks for the kind thoughts. Looking forward to rehab!

Of course the one weekend matinee game we actually win is the one that not a soul on the planet thought we were going to win. :D

The standards are always going to be sky-high for PG because of how badly Frank got fleeced in the trade for him. It might not be fair, but it is what it is.

Paul George is paying for Lawrence Frank and the front offices sins and lack of ability to go into the future, that's tough. Then we ask, wait, how come Kawhi gets away free as the one who handcuffed the Clippers into making the trade? Simple, Kawhi is just liked much more, we all know it, he's criticized far less for all the same things as PG, because, for some, well, in the past he won on other teams, as if that helps us or matters for us now.

PG would get more flack for having like 2 turnovers and missing some random shot in an otherwise pretty good game where Kawhi at the same time shoots like 35% in that game and we'd say, "well, tough games happen". PG has just been given the scapegoat role, so his actual performance becomes less relevant.

24/6/5 on 45/38/93 with inconsistent play when compared to tier 1 stars is exactly the level of player the Clippers traded for, there was no trick there, but we conclude that it makes sense to criticize him for being exactly what we knew we were trading for

Poor guy...

Spot on. We get this same crap EVERY game thread. Over and over. Even when we win. Even the best win of the year.

And remember though, PG and Kawhi were only 28-29 when this all started. They WERE the future. Just surround them with some solid veterans and it's a 5-year run at the top guaranteed.

THIS is Year Five. Unreal. Year Five. No way Ballmer is gonna throw in the towel now.

As for fan scapegoats, that's how it goes, lol. Fire the coach and play young Players X and Y. We fired Doc and now Mann and Zubac are starting. And we're still back at fire the coach and play Bones and Kobe. Lather, rinse, repeat. :rofl2:

Yes, let's throw all logic out the window and blame Kawhi because he wanted PG. Like Kawhi actually saw the future and still said screw this franchise, I still want PG. PG has a fragile psyche and he lets bad plays compound in his mind. He keeps messing up plays and is a TO magnet. Sure let's blame Kawhi.

I was happy Lue stuck with giving Brown some minutes. Looked more comfortable here than in SF.

My nitpick would be to get him in a post up or some sort of mid range action, dunker position. A little something to get an easier look. I know his job is to buy some minutes, rebound, play some defense and take the open shot etc… Think he might benefit from getting a better look is all.

Great win. Warriors weren't at full strength, but neither were we (Plumlee).

The game is exhibit "A" why I ignore the game threads and just watch the game.

The PG13 haters can shut up now... until the next time George misses a shot ... their hatred is indefatigable.
The Clipper fan understands the Book of Exodus better than anyone... what it's like to struggle 40 years in the wilderness... and Genesis.. why Cain went after Abel... So fLakers, look out... we're coming.

So wow, more than anything best wishes for a successful procedure and speedy recovery. I think you are by far the most OG here and one of the biggest reasons why this board has always been great even when the teams weren't.

Secondly, yeah from time to time I also look at PG's season averages- they're quite good and ironically even pretty consistent over his career. He does get deserved grief sometimes for the bad games, but for lesser players the inconsistency adds up to a 40%/35%/80% type of line. PG still averages out to be a great player. Back in 2020 that was enough to carry the team to the brink of the Finals even without Kawhi. Kawhi is a generally more consistent player game to game, so that actually makes for a good combination.

The PG hate doesn't come from the fact that he's not scoring or not shooting well or rebounding etc. It's his decisions with the ball. His TOs. They come at the worst time and are momentum killing.

He's got to clean up those lazy careless passes. He had a couple of those again yesterday, one of them was very late in the game almost got picked by that Jack Harlow look-alike guy.

He literally almost threw one away by just sloppy dribbling and threw a half effort pass to Harden towards the end of the game. Luckily Harden was paying attention and snatched it
