Word is Zimmer has convinced the Jones they need to be hell bent on beefing up the middle of the defense. We’ll see though. I will say that they almost exclusively draft from the pool of players they bring in for interviews. They almost never draft anyone they didn’t interview. So the fact that they are interviewing big LB’s and 1-tech DT’s is a good sign.

We really need to do something on defense for sure. DT and especially LB. We can't have CB's and safeties at 180 lbs playing LB. I also would much prefer a more versatile defense that can play different style defenses instead of only one. Any new news on LVE?

Zimmer typically uses two off ball LB’s lined up in the middle. So realistically they are going to need to add at least 2 starter quality LB’s.

I remember talking about this a few ears ago when he had his first neck injury. We all knew this would happen to LVE and yet, had no back up plan or were not prepared should another neck injury occurred. Ignoring the defense has always been a huge problem for the Cowboys in over 2 decades. Seems to have bitten us in the ass over the years despite me calling it out year after year. :banghead:

Yeah. But better to acknowledge it and move on at this point. I’d like to think that maybe they’re trying to light a fire under Mazi’s ass but that’s an equally bad sign about the kid.

Spoiler: Troy is a future Hawk.

His OC & OL position coach are on Mike Macdonald's staff. There's little to no chance he gets past Seattle (16). I would bet my house on it.

But there are so many OT's in this draft, that someone will fall to them at 24.

I definitely wouldn’t call any Polynesian player soft (or guys named Troy). Was Troy Aikman soft? Troy Polamalu?

Edgerrin Cooper will be there at 24 however that is kind of high for him. The problem is that he won’t be there at 56 when they pick in the 2nd round. If they trade down though I could see them taking him at the bottom of the 1st. Keep in mind they need a LT too and all of the good Tackles will also be gone by pick 56.
