Astros VS Cubs 4/10/07 Game Thread (Game 8 of 162)

Post#1 » by Flames24Rulz » Tue Apr 10, 2007 5:07 am

Not a good way to open the home season with the loss earlier today. Woody Williams pretty much kept our offense in check and then Bob Howry allowed a homer to Adam Everett in the 8th to win it for Houston. But enough with that. Let's talk about tomorrow's game.

Pitching matchup:

Image

Chris Sampson (scary lookin' dude): 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 3 IP, 2 Ks/0 BBs. First start of the season for him tomorrow.

Image

Jason Marquis: 0-0, 1.50 ERA, 6 IP, 1 K/2 BBs

Hopefully Marquis has his sinker working well tomorrow. A lot of ground ball outs would be greatly appreciated. If we get the effort from Marquis that we did last week against the Reds, I will be very satisfied. As long as our offense comes to play tomorrow, unlike today, we'll be in good shape.

I'll go out on a limb and say we'll probably use our Opening Day lineup tomorrow. Righty on the mound combined with hardly any hitters on our team that has faced Sampson means we'll probably see the old usual. Let's just get a win and get back at .500.

Gametime is at 1:20 CST and it will be televised on CSN.

GO CUBS!

I'm going to the game..

I will be in the RF bleachers.. I better not see Carlos **** Lee taking extra bases on Jacque Jones today. I will go off on him if it happens again.

I had a dream that the Cubs were losing 4-1 after the first.

Luckily it was only a dream. They're only losing 3-0.

Cubs are down 4-0 in the bottom of the 7th. Cy, I mean Chris, Sampson shut down the Cubs on just 61 pitches in 5 innings. Izturis has committed THREE errors, Marquis was pretty bad, and our offense has been anemic as usual against a craptacular pitcher.

I know it's only been 8 games, but the warning signs are there that this team is going to severely underachieve this season.

Hopefully it's just because of the weather. Hopefully our hitting will turn it up when it gets warm out.

DeRosa with 2 outs gets a basehit making this a 2 run ballgame.
We could win the game on a homer now!
