I hope this gives Allen enough time to observe and review all facets of this organization through the next 3 weeks. This makes me believe some people will be retained and it won't be a total house cleaning.

I think this rules out Shanahan and Holmgren since they seen to prefer to have the GM job also.

Agreed.

Frankly, though, I'd prefer to get a GM that was 100% focused on personnel than a GM/Coach, even with the pedigree of a Holmgen or a Shanny.

I think Gruden's overrated, but he does provide West Coast continuity. Still, a ring is a ring. And, I don't entirely buy the "he won with Dungy's boys": this isn't college, where the coach is responsible for recruiting. Chucky was handed a talented team, but he pushed the right buttons and managed a team that won it all. I have a hard time knocking that kind of accomplishment.

From what I've read, Allen is going to handle cap/contract duties, and that another person is going to be brought in to do the day-to-day scouting/personnel duties..

yunga, I'm hearing the same thing. I can't remember the name but the college scout for the Ravens is getting targetted apparently. I'm now hearing Shanahan again which is somewhat surprising, I guess Gruden just recently signed again with MNF--frankly, I have no clue who I want as coach at this point. The Skins just became interesting again, curious about the coach, dying to know what they do with Campbell. I wished they would have signed him on the cheap when he was stinking it up earlier. I'm not sure this is the qb draft class, I definitely don't want the kid from Notre Dame.

This is the best Christmas gift I could have ever received (of course outside of gift certificates to Best Buy or Chipolte)!

Allegedly Gruden doesn't have an out of his MNF contract.

Shanahan is the strongest rumor.

I suppose Zorn might still have an outside chance (wins the final 3 games?).

Comcast reported last night that sources are saying Shanny has the job. It sounded like a private agreement where they just announce it at a later date but they kind of can't do that b/c of the Rooney rule. I'm 1/2 way excited about the guy from the Ravens the word is he's a rising star there w/an eye for talent and the Ravens are trying to keep him.

that would suck, honestly. i mean, having Shanahan is not necessarily bad, but that would mean Zorn doesn't even get an honest appraisal by the new decision maker (alleged).

Wow, I guess nobody on the Skins wants a job here next season. LOL

The last time I give the 'skins the benefit of the doubt. Can't believe a "watchable affair" was actually too much to ask for. At the very least this should clear out the rest of the Zorn defenders.

I think the trick play coming off the timeout probably cleared them out. I like Zorn, I feel bad for the guy, he was put in a bad position but he's over his head.

I'd like to thank the Giants for showing the new GM that the O-line still sucks and the secondary is terrible.

Yeah, somebody in today's Post speculated that it might have been essentially a middle finger from Zorn to Snyder as payback for putting him in a position to fail. They guy will never be a head coach in the NFL again, so what does he have to lose?

I don't buy that theory b/c i)it probably works if the Giants don't call time out and put new personal in and ii)he lucked out the last time he went with the exact same play coming out of a timeout.
