"You can't accuse this man of something and go ahead and throw the book at him right now," he told WAVY-TV. "He's got to be convicted first, and I don't think that's fair."

Bingo.

Chris Samuels hit the nail right on the head...

Nope.

I understand your beef with Portis but what did Samuels say that was so wrong?

Nothing just read the quote. It's like he talking Scabish it doesn't even make sense. It almost sounds contradictory.

Full Quote:
"You can't accuse this man of something and go ahead and throw the book at him right now," he told WAVY-TV. "He's got to be convicted first, and I don't think that's fair."

My breakdown:

You can't accuse this man of something and go ahead and throw the book at him right now,"

We are way too quick to throw the book at people, athletes especially. Duke Lacrosse anyone?

He's got to be convicted first,

Yep.

and I don't think that's fair

Now this is the part that might sound contradictory, but I don't think he was talking about someone having to be convicted. I think he was talking about the overall situation being not fair towards Michael.

Yah they just structered the quote to pretty much make him look as dumb as possible. I really don't have anything wrong with the way Samuels acted or what he said. I've had friends that done alot worse and it's like are we really talking about this kind of thing where I would be snickering and joking around too. Portis just really sounds stupid throughout this whole interview, but hey it's Portis still love the guy.

Yeah Portis did look bad but if it counts for something he does kind of have a point. The NFL and sport leagues in general are way too quick to jump into the personal lives of their athletes. I understand it is a business like any "normal" guy would work at but since when did my nine to five tell me I can't go to a certain club or do regular drug testing?

* I understand you need drug testing for steriods and such but weed?

Alot of jobs have drug testing and any high profile job has moral clauses which sucks but when a company is investing millions into an employee it what happens.
