Add Todd Collins and Eddie Williams to the list.
Casey Rabach re-signed to a 3 yr/$12.3 million deal.

Wow, that's REALLY overpaying for Rabach IMO. He's too old and gets manhandled way too often to be invested in like that.

Re: 2010 Skins Offseason Thread
Market is thin. There was some concern Rabach might jump into free agency, but then when the cuts started coming, he signed.
Rumor from Pro Football Talk: Skins look to be the favorites to land Julius Peppers.
Also, I don't think we have a shot at Darren Sproles. Chargers gave him the 1st and 3rd round tender.

I agree... But I guess when you let the cupboard get as bare as it has, you put yourself in a position where you almost have to overspend. Other than dockery and rabach, there isn't a single, even half legitimate o lineman on the roster.

Interest in Chad Clifton who is the best pass protector on the market. He's looking for a deal that averages to about $7 million per year. I would not be surprised if we see the majority of these deals being 2-3 years.
It looks like the Skins are out of the running for Peppers and are in on Dansby.

Peppers bound for Chicago most likely. Heard we might go after Kampman once Peppers is off the market, but doesn't he want to go back to playing the DE in a 4-3 scheme? I'd be happy to have Kampman, but only in a situation where he'd return to '08 form, and I don't think the 3-4 suits him.

Re: 2010 Skins Offseason Thread
Any way we sign Clifton AND draft Okung? Clifton is coming off a Pro Bowl as recently as '08, but he's also 33. I put a huge amount of value on getting our line younger this offseason.

Re: 2010 Skins Offseason Thread
Nope. 4th overall pick gets a ton of money, so you're paying your top pick a huge load of cash to sit on the bench. If they sign Clifton and Pashos, that means we're probably going QB or BPA at #4.
Phillip Daniels and Lorenzo Alexander have been re-signed.

Re: 2010 Skins Offseason Thread
The NT from San Diego (Jamal Williams?) is available. He's coming off an injury but is still young and also a DC native. If they picked up him, Dansby, Clifton, AND Pashos I'd be very happy.
OL - Pashos, Dockery, Rabach, Williams, Clifton
DL - Haynesworth, Williams(?), Carter (Daniels rotates in off bench)
LB - Orakpo, Dansby, Fletcher, McIntosh (Blades backs up ILB, sign a cheap OLB backup)
A solidly rebuilt offensive line and a nice foundation for a 3-4 defense. It also frees them up to take a QB at #4 and go BPA for the rest of their picks.

Lost out on Peppers, Dansby, and Clifton has re-signed with the Green Bay Packers.
It's a weird feeling LOSING OUT on free agents.

Yeah losing out on Clifton was a kick to the groin. With that base covered I would have felt a lot better about drafting a QB at 4 (not what I want to do, but it has seemed inevitable).
It is a REALLY odd feeling. After cutting ten players it seemed we were rip roaring and ready to go sign some people. But maybe its a sign Snyder isn't running things as heavily any more, which in a way would be a good thing. But it would have been nice to sign any of those three, ESPECIALLY Clifton.

Re: 2010 Skins Offseason Thread
Steelers free agent running back Willie Parker will be making his first official free agent visit next week. Fast Willie will pay a visit to Daniel Snyder and the Washington Redskins on Monday. I wouldn't be suprised if Parker and the Redskins are a match. Parker would appear to be a perfect back for new head coach Mike Shanahan's offense system and the Skins really need a feature back. Last year's starter Clinton Portis appears to be on the outs, mostly because of being injury prone the last few seasons. We'll keep you updated on this situation.

Fast Willie Parker, eh? He seems like he could make a lot of big plays in a zone blocking scheme. I just don't want to pay top dollar for a RB that's already got a decent number of miles and injuries.

Re: 2010 Skins Offseason Thread
He shouldn't get a lot of money, and his skills have declined rapidly the last two years.
Skins sign Artis Hicks to a 3 year/$9 million deal with $3 million guaranteed. He'll most likely play right guard, but can play every position except center.

Larry Foote is coming through as well. Another guy with miles on the engine, but should help at the right price, he has seven years experience in one of the best run 3-4 defenses in recent memory with the Steelers.

Re: 2010 Skins Offseason Thread
I think the Skins are doing pretty well avoding a splashy signing in free agency. Picking up a versatile Lineman like Hicks was a good idea.
I would like to see them get a nose tackle, a couple offensive lineman, some LB depth and some depth at WR couldn't hurt.

Re: 2010 Skins Offseason Thread
its like a double edged sword, i'm ecstatic that this slow approach to free agency is the biggest sign i've seen that snyder is taking a backseat to management, but i'd be lying if i didn't say missing out on Clifton, Foote, and Bryant so far at a few of our areas of need hasn't hurt a little bit.

Have Foote and Bryant signed? The delay may mean the Redskins have made reasonable, but not irresistible offers.
