(I started noticing this last season) He's putting up more contested shots, and taking more shots from mid/long range. Team's don't have to respect his finishing/slashing skills like they used to, because they've been absent this season. That's the point I was making in another thread: Kobe's on the decline now.

No way !

Nice win, especially against a team that has given us plenty of problems over the past few seasons. We've kicked ass against lesser opponents this season, so hopefully that continues. If it does, we'll be a 55-win team.

Kobe needs to hurry up and get his shot back though, November style. He's getting good looks, but not much has gone down in the past 5 games. His shooting is going to be important when we go on that long road trip, so shooting less than 45% during that time frame would be a major disappointment. At least he's making up for it defensively though. 5 steals tonight ... pretty impressive.

Odom had himself another decent all-around game as well, despite missing so many layups. He's been a monster on the boards since going back to PF.

Fisher is a freak.

You know something is wrong when Kobe bricks a wide open jumper from 17 ft.

Great win. Any win on the road is big.
Now, get some rest.
The game against NO is huge. These teams are very close in the WC standings. A win would leapfrog the Lakers ahead of the Hornets.
Also, psychologically it would be huge for the Lakers to win there since they embarrassed us in LA. Peja went nuts from outside and Paul destroyed us with his penetration and dish offs.

I'd be interested to see what defensive adjustment the coaches make for NO. How about some zone defense?

We really need the win to establish us as a western conference power house.

Completely agree.
A win on the road against NO would go a long way in terms of establishing us as a contender in the WC. It woul also be a huge psychological boost for our young team.

Looking at Kobe he just looks kinda tired. I guess the Team USA obligation is getting to him and his legs after 11 yrs pro. Not to worry, rest of the team is stepping up.

Should be interesting next year. If Lakers go a couple rounds into the playoffs, plus the Olympics, and next season how is Kobe going to fare? It's basically like the championship years going deep into the playoffs...

kobe was a little sloppy, but he was aggressive the entire night. He probably gambled too much and tried to hard to sink in the daggers, but then again, his pressure on both ends of the floor was a big reason why we kept a big lead the entire night. There was no let-up. He's a force.

Kobe doesn't brick shots. He misses on purpose to kill flies hovering around the rim.

Kobe's defense is still good but he gambles WAY too much for steals and that causes our D to break down too much. He needs to pick his spots a little better of when to gamble. If he tries that too much against the Hornets that's going to be a big problem.

Otherwise hopefully he works out of this little shooting slump he's been in soon.
