If I can recall the explanation correctly, Stern really didnt want to nix it back then.
Remember, Lakers were his favorite team.
He said famously, if it were up to him, he would have "Lakers v Lakers" in the NBA finals.

This Wizards **** makes me sick. Got absolutely nothing for two playoff contributors and took on Poole's contract and bailed out GS. Unbelievable.

They got a FRP and a SRP as well.

Draft assets for rebuild.

sorry man, but at least the timeline/plan is clear. Some teams stay on the treadmill forever

Poole will get counting stats over there and maybe the Wiz can flip him towards the end of the contract for a winner

Admittedly, I'm in full DGAF mode this summer, but the only move that really surprised me so far was Smart moving for Pringles...

The Wizards haven't made much sense to me since the Jordan years... (Speaking of which... Can you believe MJ played all 82 games, averaged 37min, and averaged 20/6/4 for them at 40yo?)...

I was surprised at the Smart trade too. Supposedly, he was the "heart and soul" of the C's. So much for that.

KP will help them but their perimeter defense will be weaker and the toughness goes down a couple of notches. They still need someone to handle the ball which is a glaring need.

Interesting fun fact i read, the Suns select at # 52 tonight and then don't control any of their draft picks until 2031 because of the trades they have made.

They are clearly going all-in right now.

They still get the swap picks no?

Good point. Here's what I read. I guess technically with swaps, you don't really have full control.

Sean Deveney: The @Suns are slated to make the No. 52 pick tonight. After that they won’t control another of their picks until 2031, at the earliest. 1sts in 2023, 25, 27 & 29: to BKN 1sts in 24, 26, 28, 30: swapped w Wash 2nds in 2024-28: to Wash 2nd in 29: to OKC 2nd in 30: to Wash – via Twitter SeanDeveney

Also Making the celtics the top seed by handing over Porzingis

Yeah, but I think sending Smart away is a big mistake by them. I’m counting them out of the ECF. They just traded away their soul for KP.

Westbrook clearly came crashing down to earth with that 2 year 8 million dollar contract. Austin Reeves just drank his milkshake.

Anyone else here glad that we’re not the team who just signed Jaylen Brown for $304M?

In my view that’s five more years of no rings for the Celtics. It’s problematic when your most expensive player (the most expensive player in league history) has a hard time cracking top five for SFs in the league. For that money, he needs to dominate on both ends.

I think that's too much money for Jaylen, but then again the Celtics maybe see him the other way around. This is ridiculous and I hope we win a championship or two in the next five years just to rub it in.

I guess Dame is up for grabs, just read the NBA interview him and his agent and they denied that they said he would play only for the Heat. Dame specifically told the league that he would play for any team.

On Jan 15, we can offer D Lo, Rui and Reaves. I’m not sure I do that trade and I’m not sure they’d accept.

Until then, we have no salaries expensive enough outside of those three to offer in a straight up trade unless we include LBJ or AD.

Who here would trade LBJ straight up for Dame? I wouldn’t.

I think the Clippers will get Dame, or a three team deal with Clippers and Miami where Riley rips Ballmer off royally. Paul or Kawhi might just leave town.

Robert Williams could probably be had in a trade. Rumors of talks ongoing between LAL-BOS. With Porzingis eating his time, he’s likely willing to leave.

Give them D Lo, multiple picks and a few young players with upside and some cash. Some combo of D Lo, Fino, Castleton, Reddish future protected picks should work.

D Lo will not work until Dec 15 and not without a third team involved.

Just keep our young core of Reaves and Christie etc. Williams is defense only, which doesn’t justify giving up too much for him.

He and AD would be a formidable defensive duo in our post.
