I read they made calls to try and trade it but nothing came of it.

Ugh. Can’t believe we didn’t come out of the draft with a player who’s established.

This front office is using LeBron and AD to pretend they care about winning.

Tbh, I like Maxwell Lewis way more than Schifino. He dropped hard, there were talks we were going to take him at #17.

Since we moved here with money, we must've had a deal in place.

The Schifino pick just screams rush to me. We probably tried to trade it until the last minute and we found no takers.

I think he's still not safe and might be included in a deal down the line.

But Lewis is here to stay and I'm happy with the pick.

This seems to be the story every damn year. They pick someone strange. And it works out.

I think we're keeping Lewis but JHS could be included in any trade if there will be one. I feel DLo will be gone and JHS is just an insurance for that PG spot or if a trade goes down he will be a filler.

Yeah, Maxwell looked more polished, maybe because he’s a year older?

He's better regardless IMO.

This age thing is overblown, there are a ton of guys who were highly touted without showing a lick of anything, just because of "age"...who never developed. I'm still not convinced he's staying, the next 10 days will definitely be telling in regards to that.

We're probably going to see the full picture within those days, since Beasley has a team option and free agency will wrap pretty soon as well.

Regardless, with the two Max'es on our team as big 6'7 wings, we can safely say goodbye to the Troy Brown experiment.
No way we pay a lick over the vet minimum for the limited bench minutes that can be filled by the two young dudes.

JHS and Maxwell Lewis are both great picks. Y’all wait and see.

JHS can play either guard spots. Can handle the ball with both hands, and finish with either hands. Lots of potential as a shooter, playmaker. I love how he keeps the ball low on his dribbles and knows how to change his pace on drives.

I did thought we were going to trade the pick. But I’m happy with it. Still very young and still very raw. I trust our scouting department

My initial thought was that it was typical Laker picks. I dont think that was accurate – mostly because i’m not much of a draft guy and didn’t know those particular guys all that well.

The fact of the matter is that most mocks had JHS in the 9-16 range and Maxwell in the late 1st early- 2nd-range, so for once they perhaps did in fact take the best available guys with both picks.

JHS will have value as a trade chip or as a guy to develop, but perhaps not as a player early on. That also goes for Maxwell who might be easier to play earlier due to size, age and shooting.

Considering that the Lakers have consistently been seeking out a PG that can reliably get the ball to Davis and apply pressure at the point of attack, Hood-Schifino makes sense. The Lakers apparently are a lot more bullish on his shooting improving with player development than others.

I like the idea of Lewis as he reminds me a lot of the boom or bust potential Lakers go for in the 2nd round, similar to THT. Considering that it cost a pretty penny to move up and nab him, they must be a lot more confident about the upside of a guy who was projected late lottery until he pulled a Ben Simmons at Pepperdine.

Would of went with who the Warriors got. Podziemski can shoot and pass and had a crazy rebounding rate which we desperately need. Trayce Jackson Davis could stepped in immediately and made an impact on the 2nd unit. Hard to bash lakers drafting with there history but I don’t see either player making an impact anytime soon for a team that could use it.

I trust our scouting department implicitly at this point and you see what the finished product of JHS can be. High level PNR pg with great size and good passer and the willingness and ability to work and become a good shooter and defender.

Positional size and ability to create are the gospel when it comes to our scouting department so this isn’t a surprise pick when you pay attention to what he actually brings to the table. It perfectly matches what we normally look for in the draft.

Obviously the scouts were also very high on Lewis who has lottery type talent. He may be a tad bit redundant with Christie but you always take the talent and figure it out later. But again he is a big 2 guard who can create a shot…another totally Lakers pick.

These are both the type of guys that we hit on a ton.

I’ve read lots of good things about the Florida big guy the Lakers grabbed as a two way as well. Again decent size and has shown a very good ability to handle the ball and play 15 feet away from the basket.

Lakers ultimately want to be able to put pressure on and attack you with all 5 guys on the floor and they grabbed a couple dudes who can do just that. But they also need to be given some time to develop but that may be quicker than you think to be rotation level guys.

I definitely feel better about Jalen after reading Coach Woodsons thoughts on him. To me that is helpful in thinking he can actually make a big jump from his low impact and bad statistical performance at Indiana.

Judging from just his YouTube games, the degree of difficulty on his shots is ridiculous in college. Whether that’s a reflection of teammates, spacing or coaching, I don’t know.

But I just noticed the difference like watching older players like Kuz, Brunson, Hart etc compared to the very raw Ingram before, then Brandom just got significantly better afterwards.
I was not a fan of Troy Brown Jr either.

Most of these teams but the Lakers especially trust their own private workouts with players over anything else. They want them in with coaches running nba stuff and see how they react to different things. JHS and (Jacquez a pick later) were guys that were reportedly killed their workouts with teams. So it didn’t matter if a guy like Whitmore fell, the Lakers believed this kid was the dude and they stuck with their process and made the pick.
