Isn't that what they did recently........Dallas/SA had the 2 best records a couple of seasons ago and they met in the 2nd round. I think the change you're asking for has already happened, but I'm not 100%....can anyone clarify?

Two years ago, the three division winners were guaranteed the top 3 seeds, so the best second place division team can only be the 4th seed at best. Now, they are only guaranteed a top 4 seed. So the best 2nd place division team can now be the 2nd seed.

They need to go strictly off of records for seedings, not division winners. It's not like baseball were teams are playing division heavy schedules, so it makes sense to reward division winners. In basketball, conference teams are playing the exact same schedules except for a few teams that you play 3 times instead of 4.

I'm a greedy SOB. I want to be in 1st by the All Star break just to see PJ on the bench and the consternation of the rest of the West.

How are we in 3rd? Divisions.

We're not, PHX is still 1, Dallas 2, Blazers 3, and the Lakers would be 4th.

Tied for the 3rd best record. The thread title claims we're the third seed, which is of course referencing playoff positioning, in which case we're fourth.

Edit: After reading your edit, I'm probably wrong.

We gotta atleast split that Texas road trip. If we can beat either SA or Dallas. Ill really feel a lot more confident about playing the top teams this season.

Wow, what a pessimist attitude you have man. We are capable of beating all of those teams especially denver and phx whom we have beaten twice this season so far.

Not being pessimist, just telling it like it is. The teams I listed as "possible loss" shouldn't be taken lightly...

No team should be taken lightly. Period.

Even the Knicks could crazy their way to a win.

Im glad to see the Lakers right where they should be, a top 3-4 seeded team in the West. We have proven that we can play with the best and that this aint no show. I just hope that they keep it up, and thaat the injury bug dont hit L.A. this year.

Im loving the play of Drew and the unselfishness of Kobe. I just hope Odom can give us consistant scoring.
