They can have it. The 30th pick in the draft aint going to get them a star, lol
Yeah, but we are also one AD or LeBron injury away and then we become a lottery team again this year. Plus, AD can still sign anywhere he wants next year and if that happens then we are doomed for the next 5-10 years.
Building through the draft toward a true championship contender is just about impossible in the one and done era. You have to start re-signing these kids way before you know if they're going to be true game changers or not. We traded that reality for a guy who gets us closer than that group ever would. Injuries happen and Davis could walk. My guess is that he won't after the way he leveraged the situation to come here.
I agree, and I am actually one to like the gamble of re-building from scratch, were it not for what you mention — having to put ALL your cap space down on before you can truly know what you have, or they walk. Pelinka seems to have a nose for this part of it and we definitely seem to have the right FO staff on the scouting side.
We did extremely well in the draft over the last few years. We’re in win now mode because of the rookies we just traded. And because... Klutch, which is thanks to Magic.
AD spoke very lovingly about Chicago in an interview before the Bulls game. It’s not a slam dunk that he stays. Not unless we win it all this year.
I think LeBron know that this is what he’s playing for this season.
