Buyout market

Post#1 » by ROballer » Sun Feb 12, 2023 6:59 am

We've been players every single year lately IIRC, sometimes it worked out, sometimes it didn't(Drummond).

I'd like another bigger wing if possible, 6'6 to 6'9. That can shoot and defend. What else do we need?

Until now Reggie Jackson has agreed to a buyout, will sign with Denver. Terrence Ross was bought out from the Magic, will sign with the Suns.

Other candidates to be potentially bought out:

Will Barton
Kevin Love
Danny Green
Nerlens Noel
John Wall
Serge Ibaka
Richaun Holmes possibly
Dewayne Dedmon
Goran Dragic
Justin Holiday
Furkan Korkmaz
Kelly Olynyk
Thaddeus Young

Stanley Johnson has also been bought out. He's been decent for us last year and he's been shooting the 3 at a 45% clip this year.

Yup highly underrated and can still actually play. Perfect bench glue guy that can play 3 positions, defend, play make and hit open shots.

Nerlens Noël and Stanley Johnson would help us defensively, but only if physically healthy.

I think we should bring back Stanley Johnson.. We need a 3d guy and can't seem to find a better one than SJ in the buyout market.

SJ is a good choice but my concern is Mo is the only legit C in this team right now. If AD gets injured again then we might see Lebron playing the 5 again. But if we can't get a C then SJ would be good.

Stanley Johnson would be good

Richaun Holmes would be my second choice if he is waived. Very Mobile and Agile Big. Not a 3 pt shooter but with a little mid range floater. That way, Venderbilt can slide to the SF spot full time.

Lakers perimeter d is horrible.. We need Stanley Johnson bad. Can we resign Patrick Beverly too? I think Lakers should start either Beasley or Austin Reeves. Not enough offense/shooting in backcourt.

I agree our perimeter D looked terrible against Portland, but on paper, we have better perimeter D players now than we did before, if you assume Pat Bev was mostly hype at this stage in his career...
So is it the players, or the coach not adjusting... Based on Hamms comments after the game, I'd say it was mostly the latter.

We were daring them to shoot 3s and they did... Well...
That's poor game planning rather than bad player effort...

That said there were a few times I saw guys running into each other and taking themselves out of plays... that's lack of cohesion and will come with time as the players get familiar with everything.

Nothing against grabbing Stanley Johnson or Pat Bev in buyouts though... Just don't think that's the core problem at this point.

We can't sign Beverly this season:

"A team cannot reacquire a player it traded away during the same season.... If he is waived by his new team, then he cannot re-sign with his original team until the one-year anniversary of the trade, or until the July 1 following the end of his contract, whichever comes first"

I'm pretty sure Lakers are ineligible to sign S.Johnson or Beverley, but I don't think either of them would really have a place in the rotation. From the names in the OP, no one really stands out as a difference maker who would actually break into the rotation. Kevin Love would be awesome though, for specific matchups/situations (especially if AD misses time), and for experience/leadership

The cant sign Beverley.
But Stanley Johnson should be an option.

I think the team is relatively deep right now, so i would look at getting someone who might actually find their way into the rotation.
