Kyrie Recruiting LeBron to the Mavericks

Post#1 » by TyCobb » Mon Jun 5, 2023 4:32 pm

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/271802/Kyrie-Irving-Attempting-To-Recruit-LeBron-James-To-Mavericks

Kyrie Irving has reached out to LeBron James to gauge whether he might be interested in joining him on the Dallas Mavericks, sources tell Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Irving is a free agent this offseason and the Los Angeles Lakers are limited in what they can offer him while also retaining Rui Hachimura, Jarred Vanderbilt and others.

Sources tell Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report that the Mavericks were preparing a trade offer for James when the Lakers were struggling during the season.

James is under contract with the Lakers through the 24-25 season though he can become a free agent in 2024.

Please let this happen!

I mean if you squeeze #10, Hardy + another 2 firsts Pelinka should be fired if he said no to that.

Remember, we're talking about a declining soon to be 39 old dude, who's got exactly one year left with this franchise if he even suits up(threatening to retire). He's probably getting surgery as well and playing 50 games again next year.
He's bouncing wherever his son is next year, and we don't have a 1st round pick in 2024.

To put all the eggs in next year's basket, hoping by some miracle his body stays in one piece, and maybe contend...is very far fetched.

If you get multiple picks + young assets for him, you do that every single day and twice on Sunday. That's GM'ing 1 on 1.

Some folks have no idea of the massive failure by tthe players union, and what they gave up in the new CBA. The aprons, and the hard cap, and the ceilings will be having guys from realgm playing because that's all Teams can afford

I'd try to lure Houston in any deal.

James Harden will be back and they hired a win now coach. They will be looking to fill that team up with talent.

Send Hardaway, Beasley, Bullock and whatever solid win now guys involved in the trade there. Plus two future firsts from Dallas.

We get Eason and #4 from Houston and Hardy and #10 from Dallas as the core pieces. Plus salary ballast to make the trade legal of course(Bertans and the other scrubs).

We've done this before with Shaq and Kobe, time for Pelinka to make a big balls move.

I doubt LeBron wants to move to Dallas.

Yes, move LeBron if there’s a good deal to be had. The timing would be perfect. Thanks, Kyrie!

Kobe was a Laker for life. The Laker for life two-way loyalty doesn’t apply to LeBron, sorry.
NBA titles since the merger: LAL 11, CHI 6, SAS 5, BOS 5, GSW 4.

Maybe 3 team trade b/w Nets, Lakers and Mavs.. Nets get Dlo, Tim Hardaway Jr as main pieces. Lakers get Dinwiddie and Bridges. Mavs get Lebron and pieces from Lakers.

Nets:
Dlo
Hardaway Jr
Royce O'Neal
Simmons
Claxton

Lakers:
Dinwiddie
Reaves
Bridges
Rui
AD

Mavs:
Kyrie
Doncic
Bullock
LBJ
Powell

Dlo gets to go back to Nets that has a better fitting system and roster for his skillset

Lakers get more consistent and stable PG Dinwiddie and star 3D player Bridges

Mavs get to form big 3

Time to cash in on Lebron. If he really wants to play with Kyrie we could send him to Dallas. We get assets for Lebron then we dodge Kyrie playing for the Lakers. It's like hitting two birds in one stone.

I'm all for moving LeBron rather than letting him fade as a Laker. The only thing that's scares me about this is that we might re-sign Russell.

I heard Bill Simmons lately saying that he his outlandish prediction was Lebron and Draymond in Dallas with Luka and Kyrie. Not exactly easy to pull off, though.

Luka aside, what exactly does the Mavs have to offer other than Josh Green and the #10? The rest of the team probably takes assets to get rid of.

James could decide that money isn't an issue (doubtfull) and that he'd try to win a title with a fourth team and agree to a buy-out at the minimum. Which could clear up enough spending power for LA to sign - say Khris Middleton AND James Harden?

This story is a nothingburger. There's no chance Lebron goes to Dallas, 0%. At worst this is an ineffective way to try to influence Pelinka to trade for Kyrie, which he obviously shouldn't do.

The Nets would punch your face through the phone if you offered them this deal. I dare you to even mention this deal out in public. I would pay to see the reaction from any knowledgeable NBA Fan.

Guy: Hey do you think the Nets should trade a young Top 30 player in the NBA who is the new face of their franchise on a team friendly contract and a B level player for two B minus level players?

Crowd: Did this man just say this?

I really dread this time of the year. The amount of garbage that gets put out as news is quite large. Everyone is reaching, and in some cases, they literally make things up. On the other hand, it's not as if there are any real consequences if you're caught lying. We saw that recently with Windy. I have no idea how that guy still has a job.

Next to zero chance there’s any truth to that Lebron rumor.
