This forum has been a ghost town until we started talking about a few exits... That's telling.

I guess fans must care more about winning than they do the good vibes at Lakers HQ?

Ok, Jeannie. Now that the Jim residue is gone, and there are good vibes in the office; time for winning.

Blow through the aprons, and hire Becky Hammon from the school of Pop. She’ll make LeBron her bitc#.

I hope you're joking

Looks like we fired all of his assistants as well, including Handy. That's surprising.

If Handy is truly not an option - I think they need to lean into a young coach that has LeBron's respect. Unless Ty Lue becomes available. If Lue becomes available, he's the number 1 option and you sign him to a 5 or 6 year deal. He'd be great with LeBron and without him.

The more I think about it, the more I like Reddick and possibly Rondo. If we could get both on one staff, that would be great. Hire a vet assistant like Stotts and you got a good coaching staff you can build with.

Wait. They fired Handy? Why? He's not part of the Ham package.

I would be all for it, too. He’s no bs. He will hold LeBron responsible. LeBron will listen out of respect.

Rondo is a multi-champion and one of the smartest players of the game, like ever. He’ll take timeouts on time, too.

Can you believe that? We are resorting to things like "I like this such and such prospective coach because he knows how to take time outs"

It's like a company (us) discussing "let's hire this manager because looks like he knows how to tie his shoes and put on his pants properly.."

Wow

I’m not saying that Rondo will be a bust but hiring another unproven inexperienced tactician is such a huge gamble especially coaching Lebron.
I get that Rajon looked like a basketball savant on the court but so did Magic and Nash. Kidd was crucified in Brooklyn and the Bucks got significantly got better after he left. Many Mavs fans firmly believe that he is being carried by Doncic and Kyrie and he would be the main reason why they will fail this year.

Yes, but with a good coach, LBJ should get to sit some during the season and rest of team can get in a defensive rhythm. We’ll win a ton of games anyway if the coach is any good at team defense. Ham seemed to think his best option is to play LeBron 40MPG. It’s not helping Christie, Lewis, JHS and also not LeBron. It’s definitely not helping our regular season defense.

Looking forward to seeing them develop next season, no matter where they go. Christie is going to be a solid wing.

LeBron is virtually uncoachable at this point.... He basically runs the Lakers so any coach that comes in knows, if he wants to keep his job, his first priority is to make LeBron happy, and that doesn't include telling him to play defense, or stop giving up on plays to argue previous calls, etc... Its play him when he wants and how he wants... And that's a huge liability at this point.

I can't see a way to add talent around LBJ/AD, that gets us past better cores, with any coach in the league. Because LeBron/Klutch/AD isn't going to listen to any of them.

Defensively he’s not uncoachable, it seems to me. That’s why he needs to get a break during the season and get to sit. So, that when he plays his regular season free-wheeling half baked defense, the other four are in place. I don’t see him messing up as much in the playoffs which is further reason to rest him some more in the regular season.

On offense, I agree. We’re stuck with whatever he decides to do. If he just doesn’t ballhog every possession, then it’s fine with me. He’s pretty good at running an offense. Could be worse. Remember Isaiah Thomas? Smush? T-Air Brown? :D

We need to get some good defenders who can actually make a three.

Lebron got along with other coaches like Mike Brown, Lue and Vogel. Yes, as a coach, you have to earn his respect by proving that your strategies are sensible and yes at first he bumped heads with Spoelstra when things got difficult but eventually they found ways to work it out resulting to o 2 rings and 4 finals appearances.
Vogel shouldn’t have been fired if Westbrook didn’t appear in the picture but he did get exposed when he lost Caruso and KCP.
With Lebron running that point, he needed legit shooters who can actually hit them in the playoffs just like when he had Miller, Allen, Kyrie

New coach hires don’t fascinate me anymore. At least not with Bron on the roster.

Coach K got in LeBron’s ear by being smart. Phil Jackson would have, too. He respects and listens to Popovic, Riley, Spoelstra.

It’s not that LBJ is uncoachable; he’s just not coachable by somebody who doesn’t understand the game nearly as well as he does.

I’m just a fan, but every expert of the game who knows LeBron’s brains describes him as a highly intelligent player. A savant with photographic situational memory from games.

Will he listen to stupid bs from some newb coach? Why would he?

Would he listen to a brilliant basketball mind even if it’s coach Becky? You bet your ass he would. He’s a basketball geek and will respect a coach who is just as geeky as he is or more. Hard to come by.

To get to where she is, she’s got to be a total geek and a savant basketball mind. Trail blazer. Badass.

Does anyone else think Ham was a fine coach during the playoffs or is it just me?

I’m not sure what any other coach could have done any differently?

All you need to do is watch LeBron's teams over the years to know that answer. No coach can change how Bron's teams play. There is no real system other than "hold my beer".

If you add a clown like Russell you get what we got.

I’m a LeBron hater as much as the next guy. I thought he played really well in the playoffs and our team played with intensity every game.

We were missing a legit center to relieve AD from brushing all game and DLo just turns into a traffic cone if he isn’t streaking on offense.

Anyways I’m sure this has been discussed a thousand times.

I was also a Lebron hater. I remember one of my saddest birthdays was driving home from Vegas after watching him winning it all for Miami. But I don’t hate him enough to stop cheering for the Lakers like some fans here who were so quiet when they won in 2020 then started blaming him and advocating for the team to trade him when the moment they started failing. :nonono:
That suggestion that he’s uncoachable is crazy because he worked well with Brown, Spoelstra, Lue and even with Vogel. Yes coaches were fired while he was with the team but there were valid reasons in most cases.

Yeah I’m not really buying that LeBron got Ham fired in favor of JJ reddick or a Coach Bud or whatever

For me, Bron is the most gifted baskeball player I've seen. He's also mentally fragile and self absorbed. Great player but the end result isn't great basketball and the stuff about not shaking hands is a copy from the day of old for effect IMHO.

In the end, at this point in his career, he's not going to hand the ball over to someone else and play off the ball. It really doesn't matter who the coach is in that case.

Some fans will always blame the coach because that's what fans do. What we saw this year wasn't a deficit of coaching or system. It's the same system we've seen... 3 quarters of basketball followed by the last 8 minutes of Bron ball. It's how his entire career has gone.. he's just not good enough any more to pull the team across the line like he's done in the past.

If the ownership is interested in championships then it's time to move on and blow it up. We've seen year and year again since the old man passed that they will not do that. They make their living off the Lakers and another stretch of rebuilding cuts into the bottom line too much.

The coach was fired. All is good now. Why you gotta inject logic here? Just buy next years tickets, and smile.
