Coach Search: Lakers gooey crush on JJ Reddick...

Post#1 » by Danny Darko » Wed May 15, 2024 1:01 am

The Lakers will now start trying to find their next Head Coach.

And Pelinka his well vaselined hands. According to ESPN: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/40139975/sources-lakers-start-contacting-head-coaching-candidates

In Pelinka's conversations with officials across the league, the term "grinder" keeps coming up in the general manager's description of an important characteristic for the next coach, sources said.

Lakers VP of Basketball Operations and general manager Rob Pelinka has been gathering information on a number of head-coaching candidates, including ESPN analyst JJ Redick, sources said. The initial wave of requests for interview permission will be with those the organization hasn't met with in previous searches, or simply knows less than other candidates.

The initial interview list is expected to include assistant candidates such as Miami's Chris Quinn and New Orleans' James Borrego, sources said.

Different from their last approach when they used Bumble. Maybe Dwight Howard will rejoin the team afterall.

I knew it was gonna be JJ Redick as soon as Ham was fired...waaay before his name was even mentioned.

They trying to keep Lebron, that's literally his guy.

We'll probably draft Bronny as well, we have #55 for that.

JJ Is another first time coach? Just another coach for Bron to push around JKs

As long as It's only the #55 :) and not 17, but wouldn't suprise me they're considering It for the 17 as well

Was LeBron at the Cavs game to send a message to the FO or to recruit DMitchell?

I'm starting to wonder if LeBron is more out than in for an extension... The FO seems to be just spewing all sorts of information right now, and all seeming to be formatted to keep LeBron happy...

Which isn't a recipe for success if he does stay... We've already basically handed the team to him and his team, and it's produced a single weak championship and years of mediocrity... Cranking up the ass-kissing to 11 only makes our future more irrelevant...

Best thing that could happen to us is if he decided to walk... Unless we can keep him and AD and bring in DMitch...

LeBron will retire. That’s my guess. Regardless, let’s get a real coach this time.

Her name is Becky Hammon.

I fully expect Redick with a veteran coaching staff. The staff is almost more important to me than the head coach.

The best basketball candidates are obvious: Adelman, Nori, Quinn, Cassell. Probably in that order.
Who has LeBron's respect: Redick, Quinn, Cassell. I seriously doubt Adelman and Nori can command a room with LeBron in it.
F-NO: Borrego, Atkinson

Bickerstaff!!!

It’s a total no-brainer if he gets fired.

Reddick who has only coached nine year olds can be an assistant for a few years before coaching the winningest franchise in the NBA.

Long Term I think JJ is good. I don't think the Lakers are going to win in the near term.

There is a learning curve and I think he can learn better than Ham.

Yeah Kevin Ding is the lakers propaganda arm so if he leans in that strongly, it’s going to happen.

It also gives Rob the rookie coach narrative to absolve him from any moves he makes

At some point, the little self-congratulating bubble the FO has crafted around themselves has to burst... Right?
Nobody could possibly think this is a realistic path to success?

But maybe they know LeBron isn't coming back so why not get a cheap coach and start the rebuild?

Good for the Lakers fans: winning. Good for Jeannie: Jersey sales. Her dad never played it safe.

Redick seems like a Jeanie crush so I would not be surprised if he ends up with an opportunity coaching the Lakers.

Rachel Nichols thinks he’s gonna be a good coach. That’s all I need to hear!
