I hope he comes back even stronger. Since he can't play now hes probably lifting like crazy so he should come back bigger and stronger. I remember how much bigger he looked at media day when we first saw him compared to last season.

“He’s definitely bummed out. He wants to be playing,” trainer Sean Zarzana said Monday. “He had hit a stride where he was feeling confident with his knee and all. But he is making the best of the situation. He’s trying to keep upbeat.”

Zarzana said Bynum won’t start running – not even on weight resistance machines – until doctors give him a clean bill of health on the injury that the player described as a “medium to high level” tear of the MCL. Until then, Bynum’s day consists of icing, laser treatments and range of motion exercises 3-5 times a day.

“He’s doing more physio-therapeutic treatments that allow you to heal,” Zarzana said. “Once we know that the ligament is in the proper position then we can gear it up. Once we are confident that the stability is there, we can start Andrew on a stationary bike.”

Zarzana is sticking with the original assessment that Bynum will be out for 8-12 weeks.

“We need it to heal,” he said. “We’re only 13-14 days into it.”

Looks like he's still just icing it.

If Bynum makes it back exactly 8 weeks after his injury, then I think he'll be able to give us 30 minutes from the start of the playoffs. This gives him about 10 regular season games to get his conditioning/rhythm back, so hopefully that's enough.

ha, dumb wiretap made my heart jump

http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... 10_weeks/#

"bynum will miss another 6-10 weeks"

i thought this was in addition to the estimated 8 to 12 weeks, but basically it just says that two weeks have gone by making 8 to 12, 6-10. bynum is on schedule.

I highly doubt he'll return this season at all. This is like a repeat of last season.

Best case scenario = Back in time for the Championship Series.

LA Times with the free math lesson.

Is it going to be 5-9 weeks next week?!? The suspense is killing me...

Two totally different injuries. I have no doubt he'll be cleared to play come play-off time, what level he'll be able to perform at is the question.

Totally agreed. He´s shooting right now and his knee looks pretty good. There´s no doubt in Lakerland he will come on time, but, do we need him? I don´t think so. We´re playing our best basketball without him, we can handle every WC team with our current team, I think we will only need him to beat the Celtics in the Finals.

Wow. Made my heart stop, too. I was thinking, oh no, my guy is a glass man. Judging by his demeanor on the bench, he looks like he's coming back sooner than projected.

Has it only been two weeks? Really?

Are you saying we can afford to trade him? What did he average before he went down again? How many blocks? How many rebounds?

If you don't like him back in the starting line-up because Gasol is now flourishing offensively at the five spot, then maybe you should propose Bynum coming off the bench. But saying we don't need him is insanity. He's our defensive anchor. Gasol is not.

Against Cleveland, Jazz, Celtics, Orlando et cetera, Bynum will singlehandedly change the opponent's game plan altogether.

Okur is much stronger than Gasol, but has nothing on Bynum. Enter Bynum and all of a sudden Okur won't be able to stay on the floor. With Gasol guarding Okur, Memet will push Pau out of the paint all night and then on the other end shoot weak side threes all night long, and make life hard for Gasol.

Gasol can't defend big Z very well either because of Z's length, he's not strong enough to D up Perkins, he has no chance in hell guarding Dwight. Bynum always plays great against Duncan. How exactly do we not need him? You mean on offense?

It's not about offense. This game is won with defense.
