Isles are going to be really disappointed when they realize Thomas isn't the big beefy defenseman they've been looking for.

I know they needed to get to the cap floor but why didn't they sign someone like Chris Campoli, Brett Clark or anyone of the other decent available players.

The pick is conditional on Thomas reporting (which he probably won't do) but if he does the Isles are screwed. They'll have wasted a 2nd rounder on a 38 year old goalie that they have no use for. Bravo Garth Snow.

I don't think he will ever report but god the Isles are stupid. Classic

No way he reports, but thank gawd someone took on that cap space. I had a feeling it was going to randomly happen in the off-season, not now.

I appreciate everything Timmy has done, I loved him like any Boston hero, but when he went off his rocker, all you can do is roll your eyes and hope he enjoys it in his shelter in Colorado.

If he reports, he's worth more than a 2nd round pick. Good move for the Islanders either way.

Except if he doesn't report and a team building a young core doesn't have a second round pick.

And even if he does report, you have DiPietro, Nabakov and Thomas, plus no second round pick.

They'll only have to give up the 2nd rounder if Thomas reports.

Dont see how this is such a bad move for the Isles.

Thomas isnt going to report, so essentially, all their doing is taking on Thomas's cap hit. Plus this gives them flexibility to trade off a guy(s) to get draft picks while staying over the floor.

Only risk is if Thomas does report, but with the way it looks right now, he's most likely not.

I'd lose my **** if he reported, but it isn't about the team, it's about him being a nutbag, therefore I don't think it was a bad deal for the Isles for the reasons Adrian above and others gave. The only reason it would suck for them if they were planning on contending now, cause they just helped the Bruins out a lot.
