I hope you guys do. There is no love lost for Nashville, trust me, but it would be nice to see a smaller market actually keep a star

There really wasn't too much of a debate about this, frankly.

Canes signed Forward Zach Boychuk to get some depth, and then today extended Defenseman Jay Harrison for 3 years. He will play out this season at $700,000 and then the next 3 at $1.5 mil each. Good deal for both Harrison and for the Canes. Glad he wont be a FA after this season as I think he would have been more costly to keep.

I'm glad ohara is around. I truly would have little idea as to what is happening in Carolina were he not.

Preds had to make that move Shea Webber is the face of their franchise and I think down the road this could be a decent deal once the big money in years 1-2 are out of the way.

I'm kinda shocked the Preds matched, but i'm glad they did. If they hadn't that franchise probably would of went the way of the Thrashers.

Even if they didn't match they were never going to be like the Thrashers. ASG = never wanted hockey and finally got rid of the Thrashers. Nashville's ownership is committed to the city.

But the question is would the fans have stayed committed to that team without Weber.

Canes sign Semin to a 1 year $7 mil deal. I knew they were interested, but only for a 1 year deal. They got their wish. Think it is a good signing. Indications are that if it proves to be a good fit for both, there is a reasonable chance they will talk to extend the contract. But Semin has to prove to be worth it, and he has to like playing for the Canes. Will be interesting to watch this unfold as the season progresses.

Nice move for only a year. I really don't know why Detroit didn't offer this deal...

I believe Carolina was below the cap floor prior to this deal, so it's a good signing to get there. Worst case, he'll fetch something useful should Carolina be out of a playoff push.

Besides, a top 6 of Jordan Staal, Eric Staal, Jokinen, Ruutu, Semin and Skinner is turning out to be quite good.

They still have 13 mil to play with if they wanted, and a boat load next year with Ryan Murphy waiting in the wings. Not a bad turnaround in Carolina.

True. They have a sharp GM in Jim Rutherford. Canes have to be happy with him running the show. I know they were very interested in Doan, too. But they got wind of some of the offers, and knew they were priced out. They are going to experiment on where they play Semin, but they are talking about putting him on the same line with the Staal brothers.

I don't think he's that good. Playing with a elite offensive talent like Ovie the guy should be a at least a 25-30 goal scorer and a 30 assist guy. To me Semin is overrated a bit I would have wanted Alexander Radulov instead but he went back to The KHL.

It's a smart move for The 'Canes as they have 6 good forwards upfront, they should be a fun team to watch.

?

He is a 25, 30 type of guy. Look at his career numbers, he's hit that mark every year but last year. His most underrated stat is his +/-, a few years ago he was putting up some very nice numbers in that category.

After watching Radulov in the playoffs, and if I'm a GM or fan of any team in the NHL, I wouldn't have Radulov play for my team if he paid to play.

Anyone else dumbfounded that Doan wants 4 years at $7.5M per year? He does realize he is a second line player on a contender right? And old, and only scores garbage goals? I am equally as dumbfounded that he will probably get it. Yes, he is a character guy, leader, whatever other cliche phrase, but he wants superstar money when he isn't a superstar.

Ya thats a pretty outrageous price, I was thinking that he might get around 4 to 5 million a season for maybe 3 years.
