Guys are bailing left and right. KHL will be packed with NHL guys methinks and Thornton and Couture just said they are going to Switzerland. Given this and the quotes being thrown around, this doesn't look promising.

Losing two seasons in one decade would be incredibly stupid, but quite possible

Does anyone else think its kinda ironic that these guys are heading overseas for significantly less money than they'd be making if they'd just come to an agreement.

Yep. But the money has to be only a part of the disagreement. I am sure the devil is in the details. But this whole mess makes little sense to me. After the problem getting the last CBA done which cost us an entire season, you would think that both sides finally did reach an agreement, that would have ironed out some of the issues for a while that would have prevented another lockout this soon. Rather pathetic showing by both the NHL and the Players.

After I type, I have to wait at least 5 minutes before hitting Submit. So angry over all this that I dont want to write something just from anger without having a few minutes to cool down and then make sure it makes sense and is not over the top.

Pre Season games through Sept. 30 cancelled. Regular season to start on Oct.11, but that is not looking too likely right now. I am really hoping that the sides are meeting quietly without lots of publicity right now. A breakthrough in the next few days is really needed to avoid losing some games. Really dont want to see games lost. I is going to hurt the NHL so much more than they seem to realize.

Rest of the preseason officially cancelled. Getting very concerned for the NHL.

No progress during the NHL and NHLPA session today. Little hope of progress being made in the immediate future. Not the news I was hoping for, and it is rather disappointing.

Saw on the ESPN bottomline that 82 games were cancelled and before I saw the rest I thought it meant they cancelled the whole season.

I can honestly say I am very surprised this happened. I was sure that with them having lost a full season a few years ago, they would never let that happen again. Just the first 2 weeks right now, but this is a very bad sign for the NHL. Just bad for everyone.

NHL offering a 50/50 split with the NHLPA of revenue. Contingent on the players accepting so they can get on the ice by 11/2/12. That would preserve a full 82 game schedule. The 50% would be a pretty significant drop for the players since the last CBA had them getting 57%. Waiting for the players to respond.

I'm guessing this ends the lockout. The NBA lockout is a good indicator to the NHL players that they're not getting better than 50/50. Despite the hate, I'm pretty impressed by how both sides have handled this, seems like a lot more free discussion and less pettiness than the NBA one.

Agreed. The Parties in the NHL have handled the stoppage much better than the people in the NBA and the NFL managed to handle their business during work stoppage.

Very happy to see the NHL come in at 50/50. No way the PA can turn that down. Now, all they need to do is iron out the details.

“I think we’re a lot closer, that’s for sure,” said Blue Jackets defenseman Adrian Aucoin, a member of the NHLPA negotiating committee. “There are some things in (the proposal) we’re glad to see. There are some things we’re not too happy about in there.

“But we’re definitely a lot closer now.”

LeBrun and Dreger have some optimistic tweets as well. Just keep going, you have momentum right now, push it to the finish line.

Looks like Mr. Fehr is not so thrilled with the NHL proposal. Does not sound as if he is recommending the players take it. Bummer. Just when I thought we might get hockey sooner rather than later. Oh well.

Not good news with word that the NHL is very disappointed with the counters from the NHLPA. I am not rooting for either side in this matter. I only care about hockey being played and NHL Hockey being a major sport. And right now, the picture is not too good. Getting no good vibes right now.

Reg. season games cancelled thru 11/1/12 now. Per ESPN, they expect to cancel more if no resolution is reached by the end of next week. This is getting more depressing by the hour.
