Minnesota - Indiana

Post#1 » by Godaddycurse » Tue May 14, 2024 3:33 am

Minnesota trade: McDaniels
Minnesota receive: Nesmith, (McConnell)

Indiana trade: Nesmith, McConnell
Indiana receive: McDaniels

McConnell can probably be absorbed (into cap or exception ) by another team looking for a steady back up PG. Alternatively Minny can keep him too?

Why for Minnesota: save money and improve spacing in the starting lineup
Why for Indiana: improve their defense

Favoring Indiana. I'd move everyone outside of Ant/Mcdaniels before I considered this.

Minny will move KAT to save money. Also Jaden is worth way more than this.

Fwiw Jaden McDaniels probably commands an OG level trade package. He’s oozing with offensive potential and is an absolute monster defensively.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

He is? He had a down year offensively. I think his value came down a notch this year

Jaden is a sacred cow for Wolves. Teams don’t trade a sacred cow for meh.

Jaden is great, and he should cost more than this, but Nesmith is growing into that defensive wing terror so well, and is so cheap (and TJ is so beneficial), that I doubt Indy is willing to add any value to something like this? At least, not since Siakam was already acquired, and that desperate need for a PF has diminished greatly.

I do wonder, though, if Indy might look to acquire another defensive wing using Bennedict Mathurin and move a Nesmith to the 2? I’ve pitched something around Mathurin for Bridges before, so McDaniels would still make sense in that type of concept, too. I just wonder if Indy would want to add a defensive presence and keep a Nesmith, rather than swapping him out?

I am hesitant to move Nesmith at the 2. Our offense runs more efficiently with either Nembhard or McConnell as a secondary ball handler. I would rather pursue Caruso as a wing option if we are looking to upgrade SG. I would also be more inclined to get a veteran to back up Nesmith at the 3 like DFS if he available.

Wolves aren't moving McDaniels for this. We have depth already.

They probably will duck the tax (though if they could get by Denver, they have a good shot of getting out of the West and then maybe whomever is making decisions for them maybe pays to run it back?).

But there are better ways. Naz is the luxury item here not McDaniels.
