VC to the Clippers

Post#1 » by loflin3hree5ive » Wed Jan 9, 2008 1:13 am

Nets Get:
Corey Maggette
Quinton Ross
Tim Thomas
Top 10 Protected 1st Round Pick

Clippers Get:
Vince Carter

nets add a top perimeter defender, a big talent/strong s&t candidate and hometown boy tim thomas. maggette is kidd's fearless runningmate, thomas the sharp-shooting trailer and lawrence frank would adore ross.

clippers gain roster stability that vince carter brings. he'll help define roles on the clippers and give them a needed scoring punch.

I think if NJ was going to trade Carter, they'd want a legit big man in return, not a good replacement and some borderline starters.

make the pick unprotected and i can deal with it. the only reason i say this is because as gswhoops pointed out, we need a legit big man if we are to trade either VC or RJ, otherwise we're at the same point as we were with VC haha.

if we had bigs who weren't as good as brand and kaman i'd be all for it. maybe thornton can get thrown in there with maggette if jersey sends something back w/ vince.

now that thornton is presumably involved that has caught my attention. ill figure out a trade later and see what you all think. what if u took the pick out and and ross and then put thornton in. does that make everyone happy?

i know you gotta give to get but heres my follow up:

thornton
mobley
thomas
top 10 protected pick

for

vc

nj would probably want shorter contracts but maybe al and a pick can offset that.

but not proven, we need a proven legit 4 because kidd's window is shutting within 2 maybe 3 years if we're lucky. plus with his rookie status, our idiot coach wouldn't play him. but he could be part of something bigger which is why i would like him.

you might as well keep mobley and have maggette back in there, but yeah i'd do that as of right now without weighing everything out.

The deal sounds good to me only if we can get both Thorton, Magette and the number one pick. Would give NJ more flexibility to grab a big man via trade later....
