Hou-Phi: Small Deal

Post#1 » by supertruck97 » Thu Jan 10, 2008 3:12 pm

Houston Trades:

Kirk Snyder + 2nd Rd Pick

Philly Trades:

Rodney Carney + Herbert Hill

Why for Hou: Take a chance on a young wing who has been a disappointment.

Why for Philly: Fans seem to want to dump him for expirings. Snyder is expiring. Hill would probably be cut by Hou and resigned to Philly (If they wanted him back).

It's not that Carney is untouchable, cause he is not. However i doubt they would give up Hill, who they like alot. And who had not only some great games at the SPL. But in training camp as well. As it goes to clearing even more cap space. Carney doesn't make all that much next year. Like 1.6 million. So that's not a good reason to dump a player who was a 1st rounder just last year, and has shown promise during that last year season.

This year Carney has struggled. But I think alot of it has to do with the crumbling situation in Philly. Not knowing if one day Carney will start, and get over 25 minutes, and then being benched the next day. Without consistent PT, no player can be expected to show growth in their game. And I would hate to trade Carney for a non-player in Kirk, only to find out with consistent PT, and patients that Carney turns into a player in this league.

Joey, I figured as much. But I saw some who just wanted to dump him for an expiring, so I thought this might work.

Another variation I was playing with was:

Snyder+Head+Novak

for

Green+Carney+Hill

But I'm not sure that Hou is willing to take on all that salary for back-ups.

Players who are traded and cut cannot re-sign with their original team for 30 days. In the meantime, 28 other teams would have a shot at Hill...big risk for the Sixers.

carney's value is a little more than an expiring and we are not trading hill for a second pick until we see something of him

Hill was just for salary filler to get the numbers to match. If there is another cheap end of the bench guy to throw in there instead, it works all the same.

Substitute Booth for Hill if it pleases Philly. S. Randolph would also work.
