Which teams want Anfernee Simons? What would they offer?

Something around Towns for Simons++

Maybe a 3-team deal.

Portland probably values him more than other teams.

He is in the same category as Jordan Poole and Jeremi Grant. They put up numbers all on their own

The Bulls just beat the WIZ and PORT convincingly. Poole was 4-12 from the field for 13 points 8 assist and Simons had 30 on 10-24 shooting and 9 assists. They just didn't get theirs in the flow of the offense. Walked it up and took a shot or pounded the ball a while until they got space or maybe not and fired it up. I see Julius Randle and Duncan Robinson the same way, they get theirs they just don't bring the team with them

I think you see some high dollar players that don't get traded because they don't play team ball and nobody thinks they'll fit in if they trade for them. And some lower cost guys never stick for a 2nd or 3rd year with teams for the same reason.

I think Simons problem is that he shouldnt be the #1 guy. He is a very good shooter and good scorer. But he would play better as the 2nd or 3rd option.

The difference here is that ANT has shown he can put up really good scoring numbers as a #1 option on a poor team. Poole hasn't shown anything outside of working off the Curry/Draymond gravity and leadership with the Warriors.

Simons is up to 28% Usage and still rocking right around league average efficiency and good Assist/Turnover ratio.

I don’t have a specific package in mind, but given I want to build more around Sharpe and our timeline may be slow, I’d be fine with a pick package and a player at a position of need. It’s just about getting the right value of pick(s).

I like Simons to SAS for a “couple” 2025 first (Atlanta/Charlotte) and something small?…or to Orlando for a couple 2025 firsts, or maybe the Denver first and a 2026 Orlando first to spread the value a bit? some where in that ballpark.. that’s his value imo at least.

Charotte could offer their two 2027 firsts for him and draft Sarr, pay Bridges and have a really nice young group with a healthy Ball... Make Portland pay Micic and Williams there..

Wouldn’t hate Houston finding a third team and making Green+first for Simons work..

(Maybe I like Ant more than most)

I was just going to say... if Charlotte operates below the cap, would they make sense? I think Simons makes more sense if they lose Bridges honestly.

Portland Trail Blazers get:

2027 Lottery Protected Charlotte Hornets First Round Draft Pick (Becomes Top 7 Protected in 2028; Top 4 Protected in 2029; Unprotected in 2030)

So Portland trades a talent 24 year-old who has been a good starter in his career for 2 picks in 3-4 years that have little shot at producing a low-end rotation player in the NBA?

That can't be his value, and Portland would never sell him for this.

I’m game. What salary is Portland taking in?

This assumes Charlotte waives Bertans and loses Bridges to Detroit so none.

Yeah, I do this for Portland. A couple of gamble picks and no salary.

If the Magic management think we could get him to play some D I think they would make a fair offer. We have lots of picks to work with.

I have watched a lot of Simons and I just don’t think he has it in him.

He’s a scorer and that’s it.

Does LaMelo/Simons fit?

Does LaMelo/Simons fit?

I think it certainly helps to put a tall guard next to Simons for defensive purposes and the offense should work well. I don’t know the ins and outs of Melo’s game, but I could see it with what little I do no. Simons can play off ball to Ball, and is a decent secondary ball handler. The situations you wouldn’t want to put Simons in is one of various other bad defenders or making him the primary ball handler. But put him in a situation where the other guard can take the trigger defensive matchup, but a good defensive big behind him, and give him enough shots to not waste his skills and he could be a real positive to a team.

Yeah, I like Simons in that roster. Think the two 2027 firsts is all I’d pay

But Charlotte doesn’t have enough talent to let Bridges walk IMO. You add Simons to Ball/Miller/Bridges/Sarr/Williams. Good fitting young group locked up together for a few years
