Any reason why you have Topic so low? He's the most skilled passer and playmaker in the draft, I don't think he slips past 5

OP said they were using an average of 3 mocks from different sites:

ESPN is pay only
Ringer has Topic 3rd
NBA draft.net has Topic 14th, like NYG

So Kelly O was traded for half the value of pick 29 this year (Ochai the other half), but now him and 31 are worth moving from 17 to 9. Kelly O hasn't had this value since the day he was drafted and I cannot fathom any team downgrading a lottery pick for him. I would peg his trade value still close to a very late 1st/expiring at best. He is not someone that I would be targeting for Memphis with any serious assets.

It was mostly point guards on the board so I kind of forced a big to Memphis

Luckily we have plenty of avenues to take BPA and address our frontcourt needs via free agency and other trades that don't involve our lottery pick. Ideally a frontcourt player will be at the top of our draft board when we pick, but I don't think we have to force a move like this. Plus Kelly O is really not what we need the most out of a big, he would be a upgrade over Aldama while playing a similar style but not some big need here.

I thought the same thing. No way Topic is getting past SAS.
I must just see players differently. I think Knecht is too high. Edey is late first pick at best. Reed should be in the lower part to possibly just outside the lottery.

I’d rather have the 17th and the 31st than the 9th in this particular draft. Not even convinced you can’t find a better player at either pick.

The third tier goes through pick 58 IMO.

I think the Memphis deal could work as 17 and “later of Indy/Toronto 2026 firsts” with some complicated protection/verbiage about if pick conveys to SAS.

Those were what a quick search came up with, maybe different dates on the NBAdraft.net mock. Terrence Shannon at #5?

As far as veterans traded for strictly 2024 draft picks, who are the most likely on the table?

I know this is going to sound homerish but ran tankathon and Toronto got #1 the top 14 was this

1) Toronto Alexander Sarr - gives them exactly what they need
2) Memphis - Clingan seems like the choice for Memphis & creates a great fit with JJJ
3) Portland - Risacher the best non guard prospect
4) Detroit - Buzelis they are like Portland both teams don't need a guard could see a trade down
5) Charlotte - Nikola Topic creates a two headed guard monster with Ball
6) Washington - Reed Sheppard Washington needs a guard of the future and this is it
7) San Antonio - Dillingham it's clear San Antonio needs a point guard and Dillingham is it
8) Utah - Ron Holland - BPA and fits their core
9) Houston - Cody Williams seem like they would be happy with him
10) Atlanta - Dalton Knecht - Atlanta needs a SF with size Knecht is that
11) Chicago - Stephon Castle only if DeRozan or LaVine are gone
12) OKC - Zach Eddy - don't need any guards or wings and Eddy could work with Chet
13) Miami - Tyler Smith seems like the best player available
14) Portland - Ja'Kobe Walter BPA and a good backup guard incase they move Simons

Hawks SFs this season were Hunter at 6'-8" and Bey at 6'-7". Hawks need size AND defense on the wings.

Damn I guess I forgot to to paste my reasoning for Atlanta. Bey is a RFA and I think he might get signed to a offer sheet Atlanta can't match. My reasoning said if Bey signs elsewhere or Hunter it's traded. I think Knecht is the pick if he's there unless Atlanta wants Ja'Kobe Walter as yet another guard

Bey is out with a torn ACL, so there's no offer sheet Hawks won't match coming.
6'-6" is not ideal SF size on a Hawks team featuring Young. Hawks need to get better size, defense and athleticism in the front court - that was the biggest issue this past season. If anything Knecht could be a Bogi replacement, but again another player with defensive issues.
