Best Fits and Trade Packages for Brook Lopez

Post#1 » by bdpecore » Sat May 4, 2024 4:17 am

Giannis, Dame and Middleton still make up a championship caliber trio but the Bucks need to get creative to surround them with younger, more athletic rotational players. Lopez is the Bucks best trade asset outside of their big three.

What teams are the best fits for BroLo and what are realistic trade packages considering the Bucks’ needs?

I wonder if both sides would do something around Reaves for BroLo (and more value). If D'Lo is brought back pressure will be on the Lakers to get bigger in the backcourt.

Ingram.

Not sure Bucks have enough value to add to Lopez.

Giannis
Middleton | Portis (6th man)
Ingram
Pat
Dame

Really like Reaves, but our perimeter D would be even more of a trainwreck with him next to Dame. Maybe something like:

MKE: Caruso, Hachimura
LAL: Lopez
CHI: Reaves

Would basically be Brook + #23 + #33 + MKE '31 1st for Ingram.

Not sure how I feel about it, but would probably do it.

I’m going;

WCJ and Caruso to Milwaukee
Brolo to Orlando
2024 First to Chicago

And figuring out how to get the other two teams to do it.

Have a really early second, a 2031 2nd…can play with the 2031 first if they want (protected).. that’s about it..

MIL in: Dort, a late future 1st, Jaylin Williams

OKC in: Lopez

Bucks get a defensive minded wing to start next to Dame while OKC gets a big who can start alongside Holmgren.

Orlando would need more compensation.

That's not any good for the Bulls. The Lakers greatly value Reaves, not seeing the Bulls feeling the same way. Until they move Lavine, he, White and Dosunmu are are plenty of guard for them when does Reaves play? The Bulls would need a 1st to look at this.

The other one sends the Bulls just a 1st for Caruso is valuing AC much less than the Bulls do. They would need to get a rotation player besides the what #18? pick.

The Bulls wouldn't mind having Brook but not today as he's older than Vucevic or Drummond, the former they would have to move and the latter who they could retain for far less.

Before Dort's shooting improved this would have maybe made sense, but at this point Dort looks like a part of OKC's core and his contract is both team friendly and long term. I doubt he would be on the table in a Lopez deal, let alone with value added.

From the way it seems to read, league is going to let teams trade the first this year and next year it’ll be locked.

Like “for a salary cap year” to me that means the year has passed and they were over the second apron, not the year is triggered by being over the apron. Which is why the owner of the Suns believes he can trade his first?

So do you want the Bucks to start Portis?

Does a player turning 37 next season really hold much value? The list of players being effective at that age is short and while I think brook would be completely worth having on a roster as he’s good, I’m not sure I’d be worth giving up much for him as fall off happens really fast at these ages. FWIW he and I are the same age and I just hurt my back playing ball and can’t move, so maybe I’m jaded.

Yes, I said that.

I just don’t know if I think it’s the Portland 2nd and a future 2nd or if I think it’s the 2031 first with some good protection, etc. between there.

But if it’s the 2nds, then Chicago needs more value somehow.

But seems like there’s enough there to make it work.

I assume the 2024 pick is the Bucks, not the Magic?

Im not helping the Bucks get better. Not for an expiring 36 year old Lopez. WCJ is a perfect fit with Giannis and still young. With him and Caruso, I think the Bucks are easily finals contenders. There are plenty of teams that should be interested in WCJ if he was on the trade block, and most of them have better assets. Same with Caruso.

Yeah, I think 36 year old Brolo is a better player than WCJ. And WCJ is not a core piece, for any team.

Milwaukee owes value due to age/contract.. But Orlando will be better next year after the trade.

And they need to find their long term center either way. This is just getting paid while upgrading the bandaid.

If the plan is to find a better center there are 2 of them in FA that are better than Lopez. Ill take Claxton or Hartenstein over Brook.

WCJ is an underrated player, and would look even better playing alongside Giannis.
