What’s Cade Cunningham worth?

Post#1 » by JennetteMcCurdy » Thu May 9, 2024 6:15 pm

If the new HOBO in Detroit decides to blow the whole thing up and start over, what would his biggest asset (Cade) generate? Two first rounders? Three? Four? It’s getting time to pay Cade, and the rest of the roster is nowhere close to competing……

On a tangent, what about Ivey? Duran? Thompson? First rounders for each?

I don't think blowing up this team has any value because they are already blown up and the worst team. They are way better off trading for veteran talent that will fit better and teach the young players how to win.

Cade isn't getting traded. The rest of the guys are fair game.

DET should keep CC and move Ivey.

Duren please. You're a good poster, you know the name of the players and what's wrong with our franchise.

I like CC a lot, but probably not as much as DET will want.

Like his game, don’t like his injury history and upcoming contact.

A team would pay a lot to see if he’s not the problem and it’s Detroit/coaching/bad luck…etc

Utah seems to make a ton of sense here as the top bidder.

San Antonio has the asset base to take the chance and there’s Victor..

He played 64 and 62 games, would've been more but Detroit is always tanking under Weaver.

He had one serious injury that made him miss an entire season.

Good call on UTA/SA. Those might be great spots for him and they have assets.

Yeah, if it doesn’t work - they’re fine tanking for Bailey/Flagg.. If it works, they’re fine winning now. Neither offer would involve their own future firsts..

I know I’m wrong, but Cade should have to play out to get his max. I know he’ll get it. But just make him show some development..

I could definitely see the Spurs and Jazz being interested. Probably the Pelicans as well. I can't see Detroit being interested.

He is worth a couple of mid to late firsts to the right team. Det isn't getting anybody with higher upside than Cade, so they are better off keeping him.

That is mostly based on impending contract and the fact that he has only had one sort of decent year and that was still kind of mid. True shooting percentage was still well below league average.

Det should keep him and just hope he continues to improve. They don't have anyone else they really need to pay and they are not a free agent destination.

I think he would be worth two future unprotected picks... those kind of picks had a wide variance, but it will be two bites at the apple versus just hoping Cade makes it. The other team risks losing two future early picks for the ceiling of Cade right now.

I still like my trade…

To Pistons: Franz Wagner + Black + #18

To Magic: Cade + Ausar + Rights to Sarr

Pistons: get proven centerpiece to build around
Duren
Stewart
Wagner
Ivey
Black | Sasser
Plus #18

Magic: complete their lineup with Cade as final piece
WCJ | Sarr (when ready)
Banchero | Isaac
Thompson | Jett | Houstan
Suggs
Cade | Anthony
Plus a ton of assets still.

Wagner > Cade > Thompson > Black

Which firsts and any protection? FRPs are not all the same.

I think it’s silly to trade the clearly best player on the team, but if you get a godfather offer, you take it. I’m looking for 2025 lottery picks.

Nets fans could say better than I could, but I think tons of cap space, the remaining picks and Mikal/Cade/Claxton is a nice way to move forward.

After that historically bad game Franz just played-and the mediocre season he had, I don't think he has close to this value. He's gonna want just a big a deal as Cade. I think they're close to value personally. Ausar has shown WAY more than Black as well.

Remove Sarr (possible #1 overall pick lol) from your trade and it makes sense.
