Maybe a wing to compliment T-Mac/Yao...maybe a stat line along the lines of:
19 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.3 spg, 0.9 bpg, 37% from 3 and 47% overall FG shooter

Hahahaha

That'd be perfect :( :banghead:

I really think Battier is the most overrated defender in the entire league and extremely inconsistent on the offensive end, but considering we are still in a win now direction, I doubt we trade him in a package for lesser players (unless, the lesser players are comparable or not too far behind) rather trade him with a package of whomever you may want to find a third scoring option in the form of a Maggette or a Miller, but that's probably too unrealistic.

Really pathetic the situation we are in.

Depends what type of deals you guys are putting up. Primarily looking for a 3rd scorer, someone like Maggette would be perfect IMO.

A scorer in McCants, a hometown boy with LOADS of potential in Green, and an expiring contract in Doleac?

He doesn't make sense for Minnesota, and McCants, Green, and Doleac don't make sense for Houston.

Battier is a Riley type player and IMO he will fit. How about Battier for Ricky Davis?

Ricky is the slasher type the Rockets need and has an expiring contract which wouldn

The Pistons might want him. Might.

Howsabout Flip Murray, Jarvis Hayes, and|or other contract filler to get to a $ around Battier's contract, and a Toronto 2nd round pick? Flip Murray is potentially the missing link for y'all. He can perform solidly when he's given starter minutes and a chance to groove, as he's shown with the Sonics, Cavs, and Pistons.

For Detroit, Battier's a local boy done good, and he could fill that "backup SF that plays D and shoots threes" role our coach dreams of having off the bench. He's ref-respected enough so LeBron (or some other superstar) won't get the benefit of EVERY call, which has been the problem with our grooming past defenders off the bench. That's why we'd -maybe- overpay relative to the minutes he'd play.

Why would the Rockets help their division rival, specially to a team that dominate them for years now?

Battier would be an awesome fit for the Pistons. He does have a long contract of $6-$7MM through the 2010/2011 season but he would be a great backup for Tay. Despite this I doubt Houston goes for an offer of expiring contracts + 2nd round pick. Flip can light it up as a starter (he did have some admirable assist numbers when Chauncey was out) but really isn't a true PG--Houston has enough SG masquerading as PG. For Detroit to be a good trade partner Houston would need to want to shed salary and pick up draft picks. I don

I think Udonis Haslem for Shane Battier is a pretty close idea in terms of value.
