Eh, I think if Rasual had an expiring, I might do this, or if Bobby Jackson was expiring, I might do it as well. However, fracturing Murphy's deal (and I guess Diener's deal) into 2 years and $11 million of Bobby Jackson and 3 years and $11 million of Rasual.

I mean, I'd trade Murphy for straight expirings and nothing else of value. I'd be willing to include a solid, useful, expiring guy like Kareem Rush to do it, but to add him for 2 guys (one of which really won't see the court in Butler with Daniels, Dunleavy, Granger, and Williams ahead of him at the SF) with extra years isn't as attractive.

A deal of Bobby Jackson, Melvin Ely, and Bernard Robinson for Troy Murphy would work financially. I'd definitely go for that. Those extra guaranteed years of Rasual Butler at about $3.5 million a year is kind of what turns me off to this deal.

I would disagree. Any deal that get's rid of Murphy without giving up Granger, Ike, Shawne, JONeal or Foster is a good deal.

Let's put it this way, Murphy ( by himself ) is owed $42 mil over the next 4 years. Deiner and Rush are owed a total of $5.3 mil. That's about $47 mil.

Ely, Jackson and Butler are owe a total of $23.5 mil.

Although I doubt that the Hornets do this......if it was offered....I would take it without blinking. The Pacers instantly save $20mil which goes a long way to financial flexiblility in the near future.
